i am thinking of getting my eng only T610 flashed to Taiwan chinese
(anyone in aust, melb know of shops i can go to? SE service centres here give me either cant, not avail, or go else where)

but i remember on my old T28SC edition i got from HK, i can input in all of those methods!
ping ying, bupomofo, stroke, with predictive text, english and can show both simplified and complex chinese characters...

i read on these forums that the language packs from HK and TW are different in limiting the input methods

can someone help?

thanks

The chinese version of T610 is called T618!
The difference is same as between T28s and T28sc.

I don't believe there's any way to do that. Australian service centres are rather narrow minded when it comes to foreign languages or versions that's not officially released here. You are probably safer to send your phone to Taiwan or HK to have the firmware conversion.

If you check your manual you will find that SE warranty is only for the country or region where you bought the phone. However, the only region recognised is EU so therefore for Australia is considered as a country and you will not be covered by warranty if you buy outside Australia.

Based on my experiece, Ericsson had international warranty (big plus) but SE dropped the international bit. So a SE phone bought in Australia would not be covered once out of the country. So for the OP, you'll need to pay for your firmware change. As suggested above, Singapore's service centre might be a better bet to have your phone sent (courier), if they can flash complex Chinese firmware. I have actually enquired about this before. Singapore's service centre actually wanted a copy of your purchase receipt. I suspect that they are keen to verify that you don't have a stolen phone or some other reason.

i was all for it when my friend lost his motorola in the mail, sent to a service centre in india? for microphone issues, however it was LOST in the process... australian post has told him to wait while they 'track' it down for him so yeah.. i dont really trust the posties here....

as for the flashing.. i might look for somewhere to do it when i get to tw at the end of the year... hopefully wont end up with a fried phone lol
