Yeh i would probably go for a cheapie this time as my previous one was a sony and jsut couldnt handle all the pirated and fake dvd's !!!

Anyone with a VCR/DVD combi? looks like a good excuse to buy a video recorder and watch all my oldies up in the loft!

LG in argos looks good plays: MP3 DVD DVDR DVDWR Kodak Picture disks! VCD and cd ! Phew thats alot and all for £175

try www.richersounds.com they are a hifi specialist but sell dvds plasma etc
they do some go brand names multi region ready.
ie toshiba 330 new out and its the best dvd picture quality you can get for under £300
try to steer away from all in one systems unless your tight on space the quality in terms of build and performs is often not as good and if something goes wrong outside the 12months there a bitch to fix

Thankx mate seen them! and www.hiwayhifi.com www.hispek.co.uk www.predirect.co.uk

They all are pretty good. No i won't need an all in one as i need to hook the player up to my Bose lifestyle 25 home theatre system but i wanna cheapie as i said the sony's and panasonics just can;t handle recorded dvd's unless offcourse they say they can!

the newer sony and pannys can handle dvd-r dvd+r and what ever recording format the company supprts ie. dvd ram or dvd-rw or dvd+rw
so you should be safe with most 2002 onwards models
