I don't have an IR port on my desktop so I can't check it but I wasn't able to get it working with the serial cable.
Here is the download if you want to test it for yourself.

It doesnt see Bluetooth serial ports so I couldn't get it to work either... |

I have tried it, i use IR dongle with my desktop and gave it a try and it works.
