Hi all,
I'm planning to buy an HPM-10 mp3player for my Sony Ericsson T300.
And I got now a Freecom Beatman Flash 64 with 128MB SMC

Now I got some questions for the HPM-10:
Is the sound quality good/better ?
Does it support other filetypes than MP3?
Can I use my own Sony HeadPhone?
Does it shows on the T300 the fileinfo from the number or/and any other info?
Can I change the equalizer?
How is the quality of the SE headphones?
And is it a kinda headset for the phone. If someone calls I can hear from the HeadPhone?
And the biggest one:
Is It Worth Buying It?!

That's enough questions for me.
I realy hope someone can answer these questions for me.

> Is the sound quality good/better ?
Yes the sound is nice

>Does it support other filetypes than MP3?
No

>Can I use my own Sony HeadPhone?
You need to build an adapter cable becasue the jack is of special type. You should cut the cord and solder a suitable jack to it.

>Does it shows on the T300 the fileinfo from the number or/and any >other info?
Only the song name is dsiplayed. Filenames shouldn't exceed 8 characters.

>Can I change the equalizer?
Sure, but you only have treble and bass adjustment.

>How is the quality of the SE headphones?
Quite good.

>And is it a kinda headset for the phone. If someone calls I can hear >from the HeadPhone?
When you receive a call, MP3 player stops playing and sounds a ring on the earphones.

>And the biggest one:
>Is It Worth Buying It?!
It depends of what you want or expect.

About handset..
You will only hear a ring.. or can you also hear when someone speaks or no?

And it's no problem for bass and treble adjustment only.. that's the only things I need

Sure you can talk to the person through the headset, there is a built-in microphone on the headset.

There is a limit on the amount of charachters shown of the filename, but I think it's more than 8 chars, don't remember exactly though.

I'm very pleased with my HPM-10. I've used it for many years now. I first used it together with my T28, then with T39, T68 and now with the T610.

And I read a lot of problems with connections.
Is it true that it will disconnect if you touch it or put it in my pocket?

And what is the volume.
Can it be really loud or not?

You can, of course, use the MP3 player as handsfree and talk using it. It is reaaly fun to use it as handsfree because it is stereo. You hear the person right in your head. It is not true stereo but, since the sound is coming from both earphones you hear it that way. Also having both ears plugged helps in noisy environments. There is a microphone and push button containing piece on the cable. It hangs at the mouth level when you plug the earphones to your ears so you don't need to bother searching where it is or to hold it while doing other things. It is a true handsfree.

Filename length is limited to 8 chars because the file system is FAT I think. If you try to download files with longer names, it truncates them to 8 chars.

The connection is a problem tough. It can snap out easily if a little strees is applied to it. Worst of all connector pins on the inside part of the unit tend to tear off from the board where they are soldered to. I have this problem on three of the units that I have. I'm experimenting with these units. I 'm using one as handsfree kit and MP3 player on my car using a cassette adapter. It is really easy to build a handsfree kit and MP3 player for your car out of this unit. If you have basic electrical knowledge and know how to solder.
