Anyone know if there is any developments on an app for P800 for synching with MS Money or Quicken. I don't mean exporting a file...truly synching like Palm or Pocket PC. That is the only true PIM app really missing from this phone. |

I am thinking of the Treo 600. I thought I could survive w/o the Quicken/Money Sync which I had with my PocketPC, but the whole conversion seems useless unless it can be fullfilled 100%. Fine I have now contacts, agenda, and to-do synced with my lotus notes, but a missing sync to Money/Quicken still leaves a larger great void.
By the number of views, I deduce that I am not the only one interested in this.

You can use JABP (freeware app)... from www.freepoc.org it can export files into standard format readable by MS Money and Quicken.
Haven't tried it though.
You can also make an excell file (in a format that is accepted by Money or Quicken), update it using QuickOffice Premiere in your P800/P900 and import it when you get home to your PC.
I havent tried it because I don't use money or quicken.
Just rely on my P800 solely to keep track.

AFAIK there's no Symbian program that synchronises with MS Money or Quicken. However, as the last poster mentions, my own program Jabp will both import and export standard QIF files. In addition, it will write CSV files which can be opened in Excel.
Although I wouldn't claim that Jabp is as fully-functioned as MS Money or Quicken (not even close), it does meet all my own banking/finance needs. The same program that runs on the P800 also runs in VGA mode on Windows - and you can move Jabp data files between the two platforms without any conversion. I find that quite useful. If you get adventurous, you can even run Jabp on Unix, Linux or Pocket PC.

thanks guys for your postings. this might be the reason for me to pick up the Treo 600 once it is released later in the month. dont get me wrong, i think the P800 is awesome in its features. from an application standpoint my needs are address books, calendar, expense and personal finance program which syncs with quicken or money. first two have been more or less met. i really miss the last application which i had with my Jornada and palm before. one thing i won't do is fall into the trap of XDA2. that thing just looks like it's going to crash 30% of the time, and especially a phone should never crash. who knows someone might get the idea to write a program for this next year, i would be more than glad to get the P900 or P1XXX then. so for now...good bye SE. |
