T68m can not be the same as T68i |

In that case the new software would be released already. In an interview with in mobil.se they said thay the software for T68m would be out in may (after it had been finished tested).
Therefore, the software isn't the same as T68i (Because that model is out already).
Thus the hardware can't be the same...
The SAR values aren't the same...
Too bad...

He's right, you know. Bring up whatever FCC documents you like, but if the SAR is different, then either these test or the subject of the test has changed. The test is carried out hundreds of times to create an average result, hence the phone itself must have some kind of difference. |

The point being it (T68) will be functionally the same as the T68i. SAR differences can be caused by a lot of things. The FCC specs are the FCC specs and that is the way it is in the U.S. There would be at least an addendum on file if there were any electronic changes.
Jeez, SE has stated this a thousand times. Give it a rest untill the new software comes out. |

There where some changes on -part according to the whitepages - right?
Which may affect the radiation from the T68x

If you think about it, it would be pretty dumb to have two phones that are exactly the same.... but then again... it's

And they probably wanted to release something fast, with the new logo instead of Ericsson and Sony phones.
But as you said, its

There is of course the obvius reason for different SAR values, it comes from different mechanics (plastics) nothing else...
Cheers! |

If you check the FCC document the SAR value is different because the power consumption has been reduced slightly (i.e. radiative energy is less, hence SAR reduced). This is due to a software change not hardware, it even says the hardware is electronically identical in the FCC document.
Using a car analogy the t68i is simply a t68m with a body kit and leather seats, the underlying basic mechanics are identical.
The reason the t68m update is not available now is purely marketing, why update an old product if you can sell lots of new shiny products to the first user community who are prepared to pay big bucks. SE will still release the t68m>t68i update software (but much later), thereby keeping their promise, however in the meantime they've generated lots of hype and extra sales from impatient people that they might not have received otherwise. |

I would have thought the difference in SAR values would be related to the different standby and talk times. Therefore different power levels.... and maybe the plastics...
sorry, didn't see pit vipers post when I wrote this

The software wont be the same. I agree we T68m users will get a MMS upgrade but it has never been mentioned anywhere that we'll get picture phonebook etc... At least that's what i think.

As a matter of fact I spoked to Support Chief Magnus Nilsson, and he told me once T68m is updated with the new SW the phones will be identical in all ways accept for the design!
Could be lying though - but you are right they never told us that we will get pict. phone book etc.

True they never mentioned it, but the beta version of the software on the T68 had all the bells and whistles thats included in the T68i .... if this is not included in the T68m upgrade... no worries ... this will be my first and last phone I buy from , so I hope they enjoy the profit they made from me, coz it'll be the last. |

Just checkout the T68 FAQ at the SE website and lay the issue to rest. |
