Hi,

I bought myself an IOGEAR GBU301 USB Bluetooth Dongle cos the Radio Shack Sales guy assured me it has the BT Handsfree profile, showed me a picture of a cellphone on the box, confirming it allows audio profile. Came home, isntalled everything. Works fine, except theres no headset or handsfree profile.

Can everyone who have used their dongle succesfully as Voice Gateway please list their model numbers, along with any quirks/setup they had to do to make it work.

Thanks.

Well i use the Billionton Class 1 Bluetooth dongle, and it supports the voice gateway profile. Setting it is very easy as pairing the 2 devices and then just discover the avaliable services on your phone. It would show the voice gateway, right click it and press connect. Your done.

Since i lost my HBH-60, i have not been able to try using the headset as speakers and mic of the computer, but i read somewhere some people using the same dongle, used their headset as a mic and headphone for their computer.

I guess your in Dubai rite? you can go down to computer plaza (al-ain center) and you shld be able to get the dongle for 140 dhs. Make sure its Billionton Class 1 (Black in color, 100 meters).

It's not the hardware that supports profiles but the software. As long as the BlueTooth dongle is compatible with the BlueTooth specs, it can support any profile. The catch is that it's then up to the BlueTooth drivers to support different profiles. I have checked the drivers offered with your dongle and they are version 1.2.2.16. That version does not support voice gateway. If you want support for audio profiles you will need to get version 1.3.2.7

Try searching esato for more info.
If I had all the answers, I wouldn't have any questions.

Pawan,

I'm actually in Abu Dhabi, you know of any shop here which has the billionton bt dongle?. or if u could tell me the model number so i know which one I'm looking for.

wrath000: Its not just a driver issue, some bt dongle may require a firmware update to enable audio as well; some devices may not be able to support audio at all, the Nokia 7650 is an example

Pawan,

I got the Billionton dongle, the blakc one with the Antenna. Installed it. Cant seem to connect to the Audio Gateway. It connects for 5 secs then disc. Sometimes, I manage to transfer sound from my T610 to "MyDESKTOP" (name of my BT Device), the phoen then goes mute, but still no sound comes from the Desktop speakers. Any ideas/tips?

Thanks

Pawan,

I'm using a T610. I did what you suggested. Called a number from the cell phone, once connected, I clicked on the Vocie Gateway Icon on the desktop- the status changes to Connected. I get a blue headset icon on top of my T610 screen (same as the one I get when the phone connects to the BT kit in my car). But thats it, the sound coming from the phone stops, but no sound comes from the PC speakers.

Amaan Pawan, Kia Hum ko Shikarpur ka samjha hai?.. my speaker/headset is definitely connected. I use Net2Phone ALL the time. The BT Connectivity is perfect, so much so, when I dial a number on my phone, the phone even prompts me "Retrieve Call in Phone" - just like my car kit, If I say no, I even hear a beep from the PC headset as the blue headset icon appears on the phone... lekin uskay baad...lambiiii khamoshi!!!... nothing happens...total silence...

HELP.. ANYONE

Hmmms, thts wired

Mine works perfect, all i did was, paired the 2 devices and selected to connect the voice gateway, after that the computer speakers automatically pick up the call.

Why dont u try to repair? check the volume is up play an mp3 just before u connect to te voice gateway and see if u can hear the song? nothin else i can think off, coz it works perfect for me !

On a side note, why dont u try to delete your pairing with the car kit and just keep the pairing with the computer to give it a shot?
