Does the usb-irda adaptor show up in Device Manager?
Have you installed the drivers?
Remember it works via line if sight. |

Yes it does! And i think it is working too but i can't make a conection with my phone!.The manufacturer is sigmatel i think, the drivers are from sigmatel and they came with the adapter. If i right click on a file in explorer there is no such option like "SEND TO IR".So where is the problem!Ihave Win XP Home Edition.I have installed all drivers.

If when you right click a file to send and it doesn't have the option to send to 'a nearby computer' etc then you havent enabled ir on the phone or its not in range of the irda adaptor.
I use xp pro and when my phone (with ir enabled) is nearby I get a 'buzzing' sound from the pc and a tooltip telling me its in range.

Make sure you have the right drivers installed and that the phone's ir is in direct line of sight with irda dongle. and you must have ir activated both on the phone and on pc.

well u can try one thing. Check in BIOS settings that the IrDA is set to half Duplex.Full Duplex won't work.
For that press DEL when ur PC starts then enter Periphral setup chech wat i have said then save settings.
have u tried this?

ESTOR gave me a valuable advice so I'll pass it to you now: lower the speed of your IrDA adapter to a more "safer" value - I found 115,200 to work perfectly both with my T39 and my T310. |

You said you were using a dongle. That means you cannot set the IR adapter speed from BIOS, only the COM port's. Assuming that your dongle is USB, you will have to set the speed form the IR adapter properties page in the device manager.

I'm having the same problem with the same brand IR adapter. Yes it's installed properly (Wireless settings can be found in control panel), yes IR is turned on on my phone. He's right it comes with sigmatel dirvers, you can change to others such as infieon (something like that), and there is no where to change to half-duplex. |

it should work cuz i didnt even have to change any settings..all i did was read the instructions carefully..hehehe |
