Hi

I have a Sony Ericsson t68i phone which is fairly new and I am very happy with in general.

I also have a Toshiba PocketPC e740 - the model with in-built Bluetooth. I am trying to connect my PocketPC to the t68i in order to check email etc on my Pocket PC.

When I first got the two devices it seemed to work perfectly for a while, I would set the T68i to Discoverable then set the PPC to discover all devices in range. It would pick up the t68i. I would establish a connection using the Dial-Up networking bluetooth profile. Then I would use the dial up Connections manager on the PPC to dial my cell phone provider (O2)'s WAP GSM gateway number. And for some reason it all just worked perfectly! I could check my e-mail and surf web sites and use Messenger fine.

But then I didn't use the Bluetooth for a while and the other day I tried to do the same thing. It all seemed okay and the devices appeared to establish a connection but the phone wouldn't seem to dial out. Hmm... What seems to be happening is that the devices connect via. Bluetooth but after a few seconds the blue flashing light on the T68i stops flashing quickly as I've always seen it do when a Bluetooth connection is active and goes back to flashing um... slowly. The status monitors on both devices show the connection as still active (the BT monitor on the PPC and on the T68i standby screen, the bluetooth icon has a little arrow symbol to the left of it.) I can disconnect the connection fine too without having to move the devices out of range or something.

My HBH-30 Bluetooth headset still seems to work fine with the t68i, it just won't seem to talk with my PPC anymore. As I said, it connects fine but when it won't do anything if I try and dial out or shift any data through the connection.

I've tried soft resetting the PPC with no luck. The Bluetooth software is built in so I can't reinstall it.

Any ideas greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Jonathan.

try the following:
- remove the current pairing of your PPC and t68 and pair them again.

if that doesn't solve it, try to
- inquire from your SP if there had been changes in their connection settings.

I've sort of narrowed it down a bit. If I open a Bluetooth connection from the PPC to the T68i then get the PPC to dial a voice number from Contacts using a shareware application I downloaded then it dials it out fine every time. The PPC even gets the battery power and signal strength indications from the T68i!

But when it comes to shifting any data at all they will not have it. I've tried sending SMS messages from the PPC out via the T68i to a recipient with no avail, I've tried retriving SMS messages from the T68i and storing them on the PPC - no luck, I've tried connecting to the Internet via GSM and GPRS with no luck.

It sounds like a data setup problem on the PPC to me, but I don't know how to fix it!

I can select 1 of 3 profiles to connect with when establishing the BT connection - Dial Up Networking, Serial Port 1 and Serial Port 2. Which should I be using for Internet etc? At the moment I'm using D-U-N. But I have tried the others still with no luck.

Yeah that was the error I was getting - it kept popping up with the box asking for username/password/domain.

The orange username and password for GSM is: User: Orange PWD: Multimedia
