Loads of peepuls keep asking the same questions regarding moving files,ie: tones, games and pics from their PC's to their SE fones.
The responces are all the same.."you need 'sendfile' you need 'MPM' blah blah blah. So wrap your heads around this:
I have a SE T310 connected to my PC via a DRS-11 serial data cable (COM2) i have the newest versions of 'SendFile','MPM' and SE's 'My Pictures'.Here's the mind-numbing part,my PC knows that COM2 is in use,my phone knows it's connected to something because it charges...yet MPM doesn't have a clue what's going on. I've tried everything i can think of,and followed other peoples advice, but the sodding MPM still won't/can't detect my poor ickle T310.

Have you tried transfering files using windows instead? You could try lowering your baud rate for your com port.

Actually, simply because your phone is charging does not mean it knows it's connected.
Have you activated COM 2 in MPM?
Is your COM port properly functioning?
Is the speed set to 9600?
Has MPM been properly installed?
Is MPM the latest version?
As you see, there can be many reasons for MPM not working, some more difficult to find then others.

...ok then
Are you certain the cable is not damaged? (Have you tested it on another PC?)

Yeah, the cable is fine,i bought it from a phone shop and they did a small demo with the 610. |

Have you tried reserving COM2, restarting the PC, and then trying?

Aye,also tried with COM2.
Both with the default settings and lower/higher speeds,in one sitting i re-booted 6 times, gone through so many different ways to go about it,all failed.
Everytime i start SendFile,my phone starts to charge (well,i get a beep and an optimized charging screen about every 5 seconds)
and all software has been cleanly installed. This is where everyone i've asked gets confused and just says i'm doing it wrong (which i'm not, i'm not a exactly a 'newbie' or anything) |

Hold on a second. Unless I am completely wrong you can't charge your phone over a serial (non-usb) cable. There is simply not enough voltage in a serial port. The "Optimized Charging" is not supposed to appear every 5 seconds either (appears once when you plug in the phone) - this is an indication that the connection fails/reistablishes contineously, if that's the case, the MPM doesn't have a chance of detecting your phone. I really wouldn't rule out equipment failure, be it cable, phone, or port...

Dammit,that's what i didn't want to hear.
Is it worth trying the USB cable?
I was actually thinking about investing in the IR,but i'm worried that it's gonna be a waste of valuable funds now.
Thanks for your time, you are officially on my Christmas card list. lol

You might want to invest in IR. The cable cost almost as much as IR, and is much more limiting. For example, you can't send files from phone to PC over cable, the max speed is limited, and you simply don't get the same range of functions as you do with IR/BlueTooth
By the way, I don't think a USB cable would function much better then a serial cable. The USB cable is actually "serial emulation" over USB, which can introduce a whole other range of problems.

Before you spend any more money, SCRUB THE CONTACTS! This message indicates dirty phone contacts to me... get an old toothbrush and give em a scrub.
