Ok, I've found a way to stop witheld numbers that you dont want to answer.(UK users)

First you need a BT line with 'Anonymous Call Rejection' (cost £9.99 every 3 months (£39.94 per annum)

Then go Phone-edit-preferences-Divert Calls.

Enter your BT line phone number in the 'When not reachable'

When a Witheld number phones your mobile simply press 'Send Busy'

Your Anonymous caller is diverted to your BT line and the caller gets the message-

'the person you are calling is not accepting Anonymous calls, please redial not withelding your number.

If you want it so that all unanswered calls go through the 'filter' then set up an answer machine on your BT line then go Phone-edit-preferences-Divert Calls.and add your BT number to the 'When busy' & when no reply'

Ok its not ideal (and wont be until some cleaver programer brings out an app for the P800), but it works a treat.

Hope this helps someone out there.

Y not just busy the call to ur handset voicemail and record a greeting asking to redial again with number showing. Seems a high cost just when u can do it for free.

Interesting solution but it sounds like an expensive way of doing this.

When I press "send busy" the call goes to my voicemail. Surely it would be much cheaper to change your voicemail message to just say that you don't accept anonymous callers and that they should redial not withholding their number?

edit: snap! orangeman!

I did think of that, but wouldn't that mean that *all* callers who rang when I'm busy (away from my phone) would get the same message.

Which would be inappropriate sometimes.

I dont think you can have multple voice messages (Orange).

My method acts as a 'filter', weeding out the Witheld numbers and allowing the displayed numbers

nigelot1, you can word your voicemail message such that it finishes by saying "you may have reached this voicemail because..." but yes, I guess that is going to make the message quite long but I would still prefer to word my message appropriately than pay good money for this.

Actually you don't really need to say anything in your voicemail message about that because if they leave their message you will know who they are! If they don't... well it couldn't have been important!

masseur, cost is a downside I admit, but lets not forget that assuming your BT line is at home you will *never* have another Anonymous caller at home again.

Users may try it for 3 months for under a tenner and perhaps by then (fingers crossed) an app for the P800 will be available...these guys are working on something- Mobile Assist http://www.greymatterindia.com
