Nope. MAP4/SMTP only.

As I have understood it the T68m will support IMAP after upgrading to the new software (whenever it is released)

Don't you mean POP3 instead of MAP4?
MAP4 = IMAP4????

T68 supports POP3 and SMTP
T68i supports POP3, IMAP4 and SMTP

POP3 is the Post Office Protocol. Here emails are downloaded to the client. Read RFC1939 for details.
IMAP4 is the Internet Message Access Protocol. Here all the emails are kept on the server. Read RFC2060 for details.

SMTP is the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol. Used only for sending emails. Read RFC821 for details.

Of course I meant POP3 - this is what happens when I am doing many things at the same time. Thanks for pointing that out.
