I was told by a few people selling it, saying dont touch bluetooth for at least half a year, because all products are not compatible yet, it is still too new to the market?? What do you guys think!

It may be that different products support different profiles for different functionality. I have not had a problem (once I read the manual!) with connecting any bluetooth devices together so I would not be too concerned. Bluetooth has been around for a few years having been conceived by Ericsson in 1994 but only in the last 18 months to 2 years have there been consumer products readily available.
