I think my T68 is possessed! It seems to be calling numbers on it's own, randomly throughout the day even though I'm not even touching it! Is it just me, or is that weird?!

It started after I received the Ericsson WAP configurator by SMS (I requested it from the SonyEricsson website). I accepted the SMS and it configured my phone for accessing the Ericsson WAP portal. Ever since then my phone has been calling the number for the Ericsson WAP data account, +44 870 0909090, connecting for 30-60 seconds, then disconnecting! This is while the phone is just sitting on the table next to me!!!

I've spoken to SonyEricsson, Orange UK (my SP) and my local service centre and the general consensus seems to be that the handset is faulty. Or maybe a problem with the R2A software?

I was just wondering if anyone else had seen this problem?

Just a thought, but have you got it set to check for new email on a regular basis?

Maybe the phone knows it's gonna get dumped as soon as the T68i comes out Either way it's not happy.

I've had to delete the number for the Ericsson WAP data account (I couldn't find a way to remove the whole account - possible?)

Now it doesn't have a number to dial, but it doesn't stop it trying. It just says 'Dialling Unknown'...

In the E-mail settings you have the possibility to auto-check your e-mail client. This is supposed to be used with gprs-data. If you use this function combined with a wap-data account -with call-up -this will happen. You should check the e-mail settings. Messages>choice>e-mail>change account>controllinterval(or something like that) -that must be turned off.

My own menu is in Norwegian so I don't know the exact words in your menu. You should try to set up your e-mail client with a GPRS-connection. More info here on Esato.

Mystery solved! Thanks ervil.

'Someone' had set up an email account on my phone to check Yahoo mail using the Ericsson WAP data account, and the Check interval was set to 60 mins. I'm pretty sure that turning this off will get rid of my 'ghost'...

Hehe.. well come to my town Davangere.. and make sure you bring two chickens, dozen lemons and old chimney soot. Make sure you have rubbed your T68 with lizards tail too! And come soon! We are celebrating voodoo festival over next two weeks and most voodoo rituals are on sale - you might find some real bargains!
