BT serial port doesn't work, but file transfers do. |

Hi,
I have a T610 mobile, using a generic (InstantPAN) USB BT dongle on Windows XP. I am using Widcomm 1.3.2.7 drivers.
My T610 is detected fine and I can call up the Themes, Sounds and Pictures folders on the phone and send files to it. However, I can't get the Bluetooth serial port to work, which I assume the Sony Ericsson software (Image editor etc) uses - it always says "No T610 Series Detected" in the status box of Image Editor. Is this because the serial port setup is set to the wrong COM port or am I missing something else. I can get a serial connection going with the T610 on a seemingly random COM port, I just can't get software to address the connection (thanks to SE not putting any kind of COM port configuration settings on their software). Maybe I'm way off and missing something. Anyway, can anyone help?
Cheers,
Andy. |

You have to enable the COM port used by the bluetooth serial port in the Mobile Phone Monitor (in the controll panel, assuming you have installed the program suite on the CD that came with the phone). You don't have to reserve the port, simply enable it.
[EDIT]
You might want to read this FAQ, and check out this thread.

Ah, didn't see that. Thanks. It hasn't cured the problem though. Why are there two places to add a serial port in the Widcomm software? I have one on COM 9 and one on COM 10, I have actiavted the ports in the Phone Monitor. However, when I Connect to Serial port, it goes green as though connected, but the status window for the serial port says 'disconnected'
Any ideas? |

You have to use the one you find in your phone services (entire bluetooth neighbourhood -> [your phone]), not in "my device". You will find to serial ports there. No difference which you choose, so might as well use number one. Fire it up, not the COM port it uses. Activate that COM port in Mobile Phone Monitor. Start the Image Editor, and give it a minute to detect your phone. Make sure the bluetooth serial port remains connected...

Hi,
Tried that - doesn't work. I have configured it as you advise, COM 10 is enabled in Monitor, the serial connection is configured to use that COM 10. When I make it connect, it turns green (now giving the option to disconnect), but when I open the Status window for the serial port it still says Disconnected. My phone is on, in range and BT is switched on. Maybe I have overlooked something else so my T610 is not being detected? Any other ideas?
Thanks for your help - greatly appreciated.
