My HPM-10 mp3player just stopped working!? |

Alright I have used my HPM-10 for a couple of months now (no warranty or any papers left from the purchase after an incident so I cant go to the shop with it).
Anyway, it suddenly stopped working whne I plug it into my T68i.
It worked perfectly before! I have tried restarting/recharging/formatting/switching the mmc card but no work.
This has happened before but it worked the next time I plugged the HPM-10 into my T68i, but this time I cant get a sign of life! Im 100% sure I have not damaged the hpm-10 or the phone in any way.
Whats the problem?
Usually when you plug in the HPM-10 it will go to handsfree-mode and ask "Play now?" now I get no effect at all when plugging it in.
Please help! |

have you checked so the systemconnector on your phone isn't dirty? doesn't need to me much dirt on the connector to prevent contact. |

Im trying to clean the system connector of the phone but I cant get inside the "holes" if you know what I mean, I think the dirt is in there but how am I supposed to clean it? |

the holes have only the function to hold the attached accessory... it's the metal connectors that needs to be clean... but if it still doesn't then there isn't much to do... you can always try it on another T68 (or any other phone supporting HPM-10) |

My mp3 player does this sometimes...
The only way for you to check if it is still working is to do this:
1) put the earphones in your ears
2) plug-in the MP3 player and listen carefully..
3) if you hear a strange metalic "click-click" that means some voltage came into the player and it tries to boot-up...
4) if nothing shows on screen of the phone, try (while have the mp3 player connected) to move upwards/swing the player. Upwards/swing means to move it just like when you're trying to UNPLUG it (like the charger for example) but DON'T unplug it... you may have to reach 170 degrees angle.
................^ this direction
................|
-------- === hold the MP3 player at the end and pull upwards slowly
.phone...mp3
you should hear click in the earphones and if you;re lucky you'll see PLAY NOW? (provided you have MMC inserted - otherwise only profile will change)

The best way to clean both the terminals of the HPM and the phone is first to switch the phone off and remove the battary.
Use a cotton bud wet with metholated spirits and clean both connectors.
Then use a fresh dry cotton bud to dry everything.
Ensure no liquid leaks inside the phone system connector, so hold the phone up, pointed down.
Once everything is dry, refit the phone battery and power up and connect the HPM to the phone.
This is how you do it correctly.

Thanks alot guys for your replies!
I have cleaned it the way you described Harry, but no work.
Dean: I hear the "click-click" for sure, im getting power in it but I cant get no "play now" or profile change in the phone. I have tried to do the things you describe for me but it doesnt seem to work, I hear the "clickclick" often when I "upward-swing" (or downward) but I cant get effect in the phone.
Damn i know its working but why wont the phone react!! |

I had 2 SE T68i phones.
One week the first t68i will refuse to work 8 of 10 times and the other week the reverce.. the other t68i will refuse.
I noticed on my MP3 player that some of the metal pins will not go back after I push them downwards with my nail... I think this happened after a friend of mine spilled a pint of beer over the phone while connected with the mp3 player.
I don't know what else to propose... I you hear CLICK/CLICK it means that it's getting power but is unable to boot in time.
By the way, what is the country of manifacture of your player.. I was surprised to see that mine is from Russia

Try going to the accessories menu from connectivity.
I had the same problem with my tsixten... I realised that the mp3 players all settings were resetted and nothing was chosen in the first boot menu.
