I bought a Bluetooth USB Dongle last weekend. The problem arises when I install the software that came along with the dongle. As soon as I come to the screen where I should select the services for "my device" (my pc that is) ........ I simply wont see any!! There is nothing to select!! Then when I installed it on somebody elses computer it worked perfectly...
I also noticed that I have 2 additional network connections all of a sudden. One is called 'Microsoft TV/Video connection' and the other 'Bluetooth LAN Access Server Driver'.
Im getting verry annoyed with this problem....
my computer:
AMD Athlon 1233
Windows XP Professional sp1
connected to internet through a server in local network
WIDCOMM 1.3.2.7 driver |

Its a "Mycom" USB dongle... its one of their own brands..
here you will find some info about it (its in Dutch, but you'll get the idea):

Try removing the software, and installing again.

Really?
I already did that too many times... doesnt work..
The very helpful reply of the Mycom personel was:
"reinstall windows..."
Since that would be my very last resort, next to using a sledgehammer, I was hoping to find a better solution... |

Check the registry (type "regedit" in the "Start menu -> Run). See if there is a key called "services" under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->Sofware->Widcomm->BTConfig
**Warning incorrectly editing the registery may damage your system and in worst case cause loss of data and require reinstallation**

Does Windows see this device in the device manager as working properly? If so, make sure that the drivers installed for the device are the ones refered to in the software documentation. Do other USB devices work properly? If you are having other troubles with USB, it may be an old or corrupt USB driver. Windowsupdate.com
Hope this helps! |

I assume that it is not something silly , like you have not started the device. E.g. the Bluetooth icon in services tray in windows. (right click etc.) I have to start my device each time I plug it in (under WinXP)
