My light stays on when the USB cable is plugged in, you could try another USB cable or try a different port on your PC

I would find out were your nearest SE service centre is and take it there then they could test it for you and if its faulty it should be under guaranty so it wont cost you anything

this might be a problem with the power supply to the cradle. usb power is not used to charge the phone as it is really a glorified serial port rather than a usb peripheral. does the charger connect to the docking station securely?

the light is behind the sonyericsson logo, so when you plug the phone in, the logo glows up

@Mixin
Thanks, but does it glow only when the power supply is connected as well or will it light up when just the USB cable is pluged in?

@ daking4uk
Regarding your PM, If the computer says no phone is connected then just move the phone while it is in the docking station, it may be a loose contact becasue mine does that some time. And you will be able to use the docking station with out connecting it to the power supply because I never used it that way and it works fine

hi,

thanks for all your replies, i'll try wiggling it a bit to see if it connects, i only thought the light was supposed to stay on cus it flashes on sometimes and then goes straight off.

i'll try your suggestions then if not i'll get in touch with the SE service centre and see what they say

thanks a lot

oops!!
Then, houston I have a problem mine is just infront of me connected to computer with no lights glowing. Obviously the power is not connected. So mixin can you remove your power lead and see whether it is still glowing?

By the way welcome to Esato Daking4uk

you should install first your se cd then restart the computer you'll see an arrow on your lower right hand side of the computer right beside the time. I'ts a broken arrow. then connect you p800 to the cradle you'll see the arrow moving like a thunder it means that it's searching your p800. try that.

The light should be on whether you have the power connected or not. It's a shame that it's not a USB charger as well.
