There has been said a lot about the T610's screen in the sun.
Most people are really disappointed by the screen, personally I'm not really bothered by it.

However, I might have found a solution for the ones who are bothered by it.
I was holding my phone in the sun when it was showing the clock and the backlight was off.
I could read the time perfectly! It works the same as on a Game-Boy advance without a backlight.
Unfortunately the T610 doesn't have the option of always turning off the backlight.

Maybe if they change this in the next firmware upgrade people will love their T610 even more.

P.s. I'm sorry if I'm not the first to post this; I did a search and couldn't find something similar.

Here's another tip: create a high-contrast theme.
White background and black/blue text.
Does the trick for me !

Just find the right angle towards the sun and you will have no problem reading it whatsoever.

What people don't realise is tilting the screen towards the sun makes the screen highly visible, no matter which theme you are using. Just play tilt the phone until the sun hits the screen directly, and you will see it clearly.

the Nokia 7650 actually has a light sensor... it's a great idea and automatically adjusts the contrast on the screen.
However, the phone died on me, so I've now got a T610 !

My tv has a light sensor - ive never really seen the point of it though.
and its right under the screen so when the sky banner is on the contrast changes

Well I am not sure what people are talking about here as the T610 does not have the ability to turn the back light off via a menu. The only options are ON or AUTOMATIC. With AUTOMATIC the light turns itself off after about 40 seconds but thats no good because the screen saver and clock come on before then and if you press a key to get rid of them you do, of course, start the light again!

So what are people talking about when they say turn the light off in the T610?

How long you want to be out there in the sun? Most of the time you are in office or at home and the display are good then. For me, small matter.
