How about Musicmatch Jukebox? It comes in a free or a pro version and it converts between most common formats (not sure about OGG though). Check their website (give it a google) buddy. Sucks ass (succes)

You dont want to convert MP3 to OGG, for the following reasons:
Ogg Vorbis is most efficient in encoding when working with the original uncompressed audio file. When you take an MP3, a lossy codec, and then try to construct a file which will throw out some more, the quality will be abysmal, and in no scenario will be better than the MP3 you are encoding from. |

iz agreein wiv linuxthess - dont encode from one lossy codec to another
all youll have is a compressed file (mp3) and then compress it some more and then compress it in2 ogg = bad quality and kind of defeats the point of oggs
the point of oggs being that free in the IP sense and that you roughly get same quality as mp3 but in half the file size
rather than try and convert to ogg - just get ur orginal files (cos u wudnt have any illegal downloaded mp3's now wud u ) and reencode them to ogg
true
@linusthess - i assume ur in2 and run linux, u got any tips on syncing p800 wiv linux using multisync and also transferring files between linux and p800 (ps iz using gentoo on an xbox)

And you will want to convert to ogg, since after all, this is a mobilephone we're talking about, and this has limited space, therefor small files is good files.. Second, I bet most of you use those earplugs that came with the phone, and in those you won't notice much difference in quality if you're listening to a mp3 or an ogg..

!! Wow!! I am gobsmacked again by the p800. @ John-se, I completely agree; MP3 to Ogg gave a VERY good result. I wasn't expecting much, as I agree with the previous posters about the difficulty of converting from one lossy format to another. I used dbpoweramp, converting at 46Kbps. If anyone hasn't tested Oggplay yet, they're really missing out. Truly amazing. |
