hey guys, got a bit of a problem....need a new fone but dont know whether i should invest in a T610 or a 7250i.

Im a big ericsson fan...have owned models such as t28, t68, t68i. At the moment im using a Nokia 7210 which i hate!

T610 is appealing...
- looks good,
- its has bluetooth,
- it has a better screen resoultion than the 7250i, and
- it also has a better poly' ringtoner.....

however...
- t610 only has 2mb of memory compared to 5 mb of the 7250i.
- i have also also heard rumours that T610 camera is not that good
- the T610 is slow through menu's
- it tends to crash now and then!

so im in two minds...
shall i invest in a 7250i or shall i get a T610?
which is a better fone?
which fone would YOU go for and why?

please help me out guys....asap!
cheers

i would like both

the radio and speaker phone is very important to me ....

The t610 screen is better, it has voice dialing , and all in all is a better built phone.

dont forget . 5 mb SHARED ! which means you cant store up to 5 mb all of pix ...

Go for the ericcson, lets not forget , you have experience with them in the past, and experience is important

the choice is still yours. but if i were you, get the teesixten. if just in case there is a need for change, get the 7250i.

Word on the street is that the cameras on both phones does the same resolution. Read the reviews at mobiledia.com to help. That's what pretty much confirmed my decision. I went with the T610 and couldnt be happier.

The fact that you hate your current 7210 is already a BIG warning sign... the 7250 is just a 7210 with a camera.

i am a sony-ericsson user, and have been enjoying it ever since. and jplacson is absolutely correct. but the fact that you are still inclined to purchase nokias from time to time is still actually your own decision. t-610 is ahead of any mid-to-high end nokias in the market these days. but that fact doesn't seem to bother any nokia fan. they just want to own the latest nokia, as a fashion statement, regardless of how poor in feature that new nokia is. so if you are for useful cellphone features- get a T610. if your objective is just to show you have the latest model- that is a nokia fan attitude.

as the other guys said,go for the SE,I had the 7250 for 2 months, everyone said "wow, great phone..",when i took it out of my pocket, used the camera etc.
but the T610 is bringing more interesting comments, build quality, screen colours, metal case etc.
sure the 5mb of mem.was good, but once you set up the phone the fun ends...whilst my T610 just continues to provide me with options such as voice dialling, pairing with bluetooth devices, cool themes(not just colour changes..)etc..etc..beyond the simplistic nokia menus.
Nokia makes good phones, but SE is just more involving, and tech orientated..
(but if you are using ESATO forums, you know this anyway..)

Also... there are a few threads from this search that offer other peoples opinion on this comparison so I hope that helps your decision too!

I'm not gonna deside which is better since I never used the Nokia model you meantion.
But I would like to comment some on your bad sides of T610
The camera...well theres a thread here with pics taken from T610camera its not comparable with a digital camera but it's not
suppose to be either for a phone I think its ok.
But if I where you I would considder one thing if camera pictures are
a feature you gonna use alot how do you gonna transfer them to
the computer with T610 you can use (bluetooth) and IR and email
and MMS to transfer them the first two is free I heard with Nokia you only have the MMS option (often expensive) I'm not sure of the Nokia model you meantioned though but think you should check it up.

Slow menus... On my w26 T610 still with first firmware version its not slow at all in the menues and I can get to the things I want alot faster
then on Nokias where you have to scroll through the menu page after page (again not sure about the nokia model you meantioned they might have changed menu and improved)

Crashes... never had a crash and I have talked alot on the phone, I have waped using gprs alot sent alot of sms and cpl mms played both mophun and java games transfered stuff both using and IR and I have never had a crash/hang so far..perhaps it was something that happened with earlier production phones?? Other ppl could comment on this I guess I can only tell my experiences with my T610.

Good luck with whichever phone you deside to buy

I would choose the T610, but if you want a phone that you actually here the ringingtones get the 7250i.
Ok that phone hasn't as good polyphonic sound but the T610 is not hearable

I always answer cause I feel the vibrator, maybe 40% of everytime I here the ringingtone.

Otherwise the T610 is better!!!

Depends on what u want it to do

Nokia 72501:
+ better menu oriented, simple
+ bigger memory
+ xhtml
+ radio
- Cant send pics by IR, only by mms.
- no bluetooth

SE T610:
+ Bluetooth
+ better screen color
+ looks cool
- small memory
- hissing problems (old version)
- polyphonic sucks big time
- metal cover (have to clean it all the time)

If I were u, I keep my T68i and buy the 7250i as a second phone.

7250i better menu!??!?!?!?!? hehe.. All nokia does not even compare to T610 menus!!

And the T610 can xhtml

So actually the 7250i is like this:
- worse menu oriented
+ bigger memory
+ radio
- Cant send pics by IR, only by mms.
- no bluetooth
+ polyphonic ringingtones are higher
- Plastic feel
+ Speaker phone

And for T610:
+ Bluetooth
+ better screen color
+ looks cool
+ Theme can be changed not only colors also pictures
- small memory
(- polyphonic sucks big time)
+ polyphonic sound even better than my computer but isn't hearable!
(- metal cover (have to clean it all the time))
+ Metalcover, looks more expensive, feels like quality
+ IR sync, IR file sending/recieving
- No speaker phone

I've used both phones for over a week now trying to decide which one I want as I WAS finding it difficult to decide.

Design
The keypad feels great on the 7250i and is nicer to use than the t610, however this comprimises the size of the screen. The t610 is slightly cramped to accomodate a much larger screen.

Having said this the Nokia with its smaller screen is slightly longer in lenghth. They are about the same size in width and the t610 is thinner.

Display
If you like customising your phone you can change loads of display settings on the t610 including themes. On the 7250i you can only change the colour of the cursor block so backgrounds will always be white in colour. Also the only other thing you can change is the wallpaper.

The colour display on the ericsson is much better than that of the 7250i. 65,596 colours compared to the Nokia's 4096 colours, this really shows in the picture quality, especially when using the camera.

Camera:
The picture quality on the 7250i is quite poor in compaison to all other camera phone models including the t610, panasonic gd87 etc. The t610 is MUCH BETTER. Also if you allocate a picture to a phone book entry when someone calls the picture takes up a large portion of the screen and is of a nice quality. On the Nokia its a fuzzy thumb nail and looks crap.

Ringtones:
The t610 has much better quality ringtones as they are 32 channel polyphonic, whereas the Nokia has only 4 channels. Most of the monophonic ringtones on the Nokia sound HORRIBLE as they are high pitched, and distort. Funny thing about the Nokia, and one that is very annoying is that the vibrator is louder than the actual ringtones and it does your head in after a while.

Txt messaging:
The Nokia wins when writing text messages as its very fast and very easy. The design of the keys really helps. The t610 isn't bad though, just slower.. if your a fast texter it won't be able to keep up with you. However I tried my boyfriends SE T610, which was one of the first ones with very old sw, and apparently the new ones are slightly faster.

Wap:
t610 has wap v2.0
7250i has wap version 1.2.1

Other features:
Nokia has timing profiles so a profile can switch its self off after a certain time and it also has a radio.

the t610 has an sms counter which I found very useful for keeping track of how many sms' your sending and it has bluetooth capabilities unlike the Nokia.

Both have infared.

Overall the t610 is packed with far more features and overall is better, and thats why I went for the T610. Hope this has helped.
