I've been sufferin for a month now. I can't get my IR workin.
I could send thru bluetooth only.

I did this for the nth time
Menu-->Connect-->IR port--> ON
When i go standby, the IR icon doesn't show.
I even opted to do a master reset. Still unlucky!
I wanted to know if this is a firmware or software prob i got.

M thinkin of replacin the IR and BT device from my unit's
motherboard. I got a spare one (from a defective t68i).
I've been recently successfull for my mic assembly and
slide key repair. I used the parts of the defective one.
It was nice to find out that the unit will still work without the
mic assembly and slide key mounted on the board.

What are the hazards of doing these?

I ope someone could enlighten me once again

You are definitly braver than me doing mods like this. I certainly can't help you with the IR fix you propose but do wonder if you didn't damage it during the mike and slider key fix? Might be worth pulling it apart and checking that out again.
