Hi,

I wanted to know as to what should be the preferred method for connecting/using the HBH-35 headset with my P800...

Should I keep as "ON" or "DISCOVERABLE" ?

As per the P800 manual, the only difference between the "On" and Discoverable" states is that pairing and receiving beamed items DO NOT work in the "On" mode.

When the P800 communicates in "Discoverable" mode with the headset the status shows "<>" and when its idle, the status shows "<".
However, even in the "On" mode, the phone displays "<>" and "<" in the activity and idle states respectively. Shouldn't it be showing ONLY the "<>" sign ?

However, the HBH-35 manual mentions that "... bluetooth on your phone must be on... in order to use the headset..."

Also, what impact does these modes have on the battery. Does the "On" mode drain more battery.

Can anyone please help me on this ?

Thanks.

ON should do the Trick.

Discoverable is only used if you want someone to be able to send objects to your phone.

@Merkur:
Thanks for your prompt answer.

However, I forgot to include this part in my my post earlier ...

Any ideas on this ?
Thanks

i use the HBH-60 and always have it in the ON mode. it only ever shows <> during a call and blue led pulses faster otherwise it is not communicating and using the batt as much.

@Baz

Thanks for the info. This is also what I have seen. I'll be using the headset with my P800 in the "On" mode from now on...
