T68 signal strength bug! |

Hi!
Yesterday I had a really wierd problem with my T68. I was visiting my grandparents in a small town with lousy reception, while I was there the phone only showed one bar for signal strength (and no GPRS). When I got back home and picked up my phone from my pocket I still had only one bar, which was really stange because I always have the full five bars (with GPRS available) in my home. I left it for a while and checked it after approx. 10mins and it still showed one bar. I restarted the phone and then it showed the usual full strength (five bars). Really weird!
Anyone had the same problem? My software is R2A, maybe I should upgrade to R2B?
Also the phone most have "thought" that the signal strength was really bad because it had "eaten" alot of the battery (from half full to almost empty). |

When you do not speak or use GPRS your phone is in "idle mode" meaing that it will use less power. Even if you are in low signal strength areas and you do not talk ot use GPRS the phone will not really use all that much power. The major loss of batttery power is when you are in low signal strengh areas and use GPRS and voice.
To he honest the operators can trick your phone into thinking that there is alot of signal strength, "more bars" even though the signal strength is quite poor......so just because you have "more bars" on your phone that does not mean you have great signal strength. |

Thanks for your answers!
But I think you misunderstood me. I don't have any problems with weak signal strength. The problem is that the phone thought that it had a weak signal until I turned it off and then turned it on again. The signal strength in this area is great and always have the full five bars in my home. |
