Hi all,

Right, here are the first screenshots I've got for the Tariff Monitor app, (just to prove I have been doing something!). Follow the nasty looking link below - it's to a yahoo groups thing, so you'll probably need a yahoo id?

http://photos.groups.yahoo.com/group/sonyericssonp800/lst?&.dir=/Tariff+Monitor&.src=gr&.view=t&.url=http%3a//us.f1.yahoofs.com/groups/g_6198655/Tariff%2bMonitor/screen-12.jpg%3fbc6DfMuBRWJZqOJz&.cx=97&.cy=150&.type=u

Anyway, check them out and see if they look any good - they're not quite up to full "prettines" yet, especially the base view (which shows the list of allowances and other usages).

Post any comments here...

Nice work Julian. Just how close are we to a version for test release to a few keen testers, pre-beta release?

Glad you like the screenshots, and hopefully those of you who couldn't get in have managed to now. BTW, if someone wants to put the pictures at another address that is more accessible, either take them from that link, or mail me and I can send them to you.

As for how close I am to a working app for pre-beta testing...well, not too far off in terms of the user front-end, and the logic to work out your usage. But...and it is a BIG BUT! I've just found out from SE dev support that there is no programmatical access to the call history on the P800. (Even though it was possible on loads of Series 60 phones!). I'm currently questioning them to see if there is any way of doing this - because if there isn't then I'm afraid Tariff Monitor simply won't work for the P800! I'm obviously gonna exhaust every avenue with this, but there is a possiblity that eventually the program may have to be shelved until a new UIQ phone comes out with that support.

Sounds bad I know, I'll keep digging and post when I find out more. I'll still be deveopling the app anyway, as I can polish up everything and the only missing piece will be the call log extraction, which will be replaced by the simulator module. I suppose it is useable in that sense, that you could manually input each call you make, but it's not really the way it's supposed to be!

Anyway, pre-beta simulator app will hopefully be out in a couple of weeks if I get time to work on it...

Good luck with this, still hope you get it all sorted out! This would be a killer app if it ever sees the light of day. ^_^
