Does anyone know if the mca-20 will work on the t610?
why you ask?
Cause when i want to take pics for viewing on pc i would like to use the mca-20, it takes much sharper shots than the inbuilt cam, which, don't get me wrong, is a fine camera for mms shots.

Thats a question that many have asked and although you would get higher resolution pictures why bother when you have a perfectly capable built in camera?

I did search first, there was just such an obscene number of unrelated threads, finding the right one was sillyness.
Take a picture with the t610, and the same picture with a mca 20. Transfer them to a pc with an lcd screen (a laptop for example). The edges of EVERYTING on the t610 have got really weird bitty pixels, you don't see these on the phone, the camera is perfect for pics viewed on the phone and for mms and even on a crt. BUT the mca-20 pictures will be a million times better on a pc with an lcd screen OR a crt, and will still look good on the phones display although too big for mms.
If i wanted to spend a few quid on an attachment to my great little phone to make it take more suitable pictures for pc viewing, what is the problem with that?
On the other side of the coin the mca-20 takes shabby pictures in any artificial light, so in these occasions the built in camera would be better.
On top of this i do not see WHY the t610 built in camera does all this weird pixel millarky, i do NOT believe this is created by the ccd i am afraid, the only thing i can think of is that the res of the shots taken in 'large' is not the native res of the ccd and that it is 'zooming' in on an area of the picture taken in the same way as the 'small' setting does, which makes the dodgy edges worse, that is the only explanation i can think of. And another thing (you shouldn't have got me started), WHY OH WHY are NEITHER of the size options the same resolution or a multiple of the resolution used when you view the pictures in 'my pictures' or, equally valid, the res of background images???? The phones resizing of these images causes missing sections of diagonal lines in particular, which ARE clearly visible on the phones display!!
Sorry for the rant, but i needed to vent my spleen, particularly about the last point which would only have taken a thought when choosing the res options!
The fact that i posted means that i believe i have a valid use for the t610 and a mca-20, i do not make idle post which i do not intend a sensible answer to, end of 'Why do you want to do that?' debate before more people join in.
Again sorry for rant, it really isn't as het-up as it will come across!!
The camera would be perfectly capable if it wasn't for the pixly edges.
It is only capable for on phone viewing, although not 'perfectly capable' as the res does not match the phone viewing res (or a multiple of).

Hey no problemo. I was trying to point out that the basic answer to your question has been answered many times.
Actually I already replied to a PM tonight that I think a future firmware upgrade to T610 which included support for MCA cams would probably make a lot of people happy. On the other hand mega pixel digital cameras are fairly cheap these days... in fact Expansys are offering a 3.3 megapixel cam as their special of the day for little more than an MCA cam. My opinion is that phone cameras, be they internal or external, are great for quick snaps to email from the phone or MMS or use as backgrounds but pics you want to keep and view on the pc are much better taken with the right equipment, a proper digital camera.
Obviously I can understand frustration from people who bought MCA cams for their T68i or got them free with their T300 etc but generally you are better off selling them with those phones when you get rid of them to raise cash towards the new phone, in this case the T610.

Thats a good point, phones are primarily for taking and making calls, anything else added is not going to be of a standard thats acceptable for primary use.
I've spoken with Mass on this issue and I was a little dissapointed with the 610's cam quality compared to my MCA-25, but the phone more than makes up for it, I use the cam for fun 'snaps' and thats really all its designed for.
My shopping list includes a dedicated digi-cam soon, but I am not expecting it to take phone calls and manage my meetings all in a beautiful design

A dedicated digicam is the way forward, i'm just a bit of a techie freak and like everything in one small neat package that fits in my shirt pocket, maybe i should stop being greedy, who knows.
Just been reading about th R1L upgrade and that apparently sorts out some of my camera gripes anyway.
My only problem is that last time i asked carphone warehouse to do an upgrade (an in-waranty t68i) they told me it was going to cost me. Looks like i'm in for an argument!
