does anyone have a full version of handy base that they are using and are happy with? i've downloaded trial but haven't got into it yet. can u edit excel spreadsheets with it (despite it being a database)? can you drop a photograph into a cell in the database - so could i have a file of data relating to various objects with a photo of each object?
does anyone know of a ms word and ms excel reader and editor that is coming soon to the p800?just wondered.thanks |

I haven't tired "handybase" yet but I suspect it's just a database program... its not something where you can input formuas. If you want something like that, try the "QCalc beta". Personally, I don't think I have use for Handybase.
With regards to word and excel readers, there are already apps around that may suit your purpose. The P800 comes with a standard viewer that can read excel and word but the quality's not that good. If you want quality, you can get "Repligo"... it comes with a software to convert almost any file (even webpages) into Repligo format that can be read in your P800. (Quality is exactly what you see on the PC screen).
If you want editing, than its another story. Currently there's "jtext" and "notepadder". They're simple programs for creating .txt files not actually word documents. There is also "personal jotter" which is supposed to be a writing companion for the p800 which had predictive / autocomplete capabilities. What ever you've written can also be saved as a .txt file. "QCalc" worksheets can be saved in .csv format which excell can read.
Hope this helps. |

roygbiv, you can edit Handy Base databases and then export them to Excel files. And not only Excel, but Access, CSV and other files also. You can read for example this cool review of Handy Base at AAS to find more: http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/software/reviews/review2.php?id=66
Or what do you meen by edit? May be we think of different meenings of this word?
