No T9, but who needs it when you have handwriting recognition??

Well IMHO for the 3 months I had the P800 I would probably have preferred T9 because I found the handwriting recognition slow and finiky and I had to continually erase the last character and redo it until the phone got it right.
On the other hand I have absolutely no trouble using transcriber on my pocketpc so if they implemented that on the P800 maybe less people would complain about lack of T9.

Opposite for me.
I could never get used to any of the PocketPC HWR methods & found them slow but fly along with the P800 making few mistakes.
Always ended up using the screen keyboard on the PocketPC. |

There is a program you can buy called Personal Jotter which learns words that you have written in the past and then suggests word completions while you write. The problem being it's not intergrated with the existing apps on your P800 so you have to write in Personal Jotter and then copy and paste it into your desired app.
It's a step in the right direction.

Yeah I really had fun using Personal Jotter. Writing on the P800 has never been better. Just have to get used to "cut and paste". |

SE UK told me the other day that there is no way that there will ever be T9 on the p800
due to the little keyboard and the hand writing recognition!
but the hand writing recognition is awful. t,k, and i and a joke to do and seeing as tough i is the like the most used letter in the English language makes life a wee bit difficult!
i NEED T9 on my p800 for texts email whatever while im on the about you cant "write" using the hand writing recogntion while riding a bike or for the same matter use the keyboard!
so come on all you big VB and other S/W programmers get on the T9 case surely it cant be that difficult to make??

Regarding the handwriting recognition, I think this has a lot to do with the plastic stylus. Its too light and doesnt exert consistent pressure on the digitizer. Try using a proper stylus and see if that doesn't improve things greatly!
As for T9 I think personaljotter is the closest option so far. |

Totally agree with you mate T9 predictave text is a neccessity. It was a serious over sight by Sony Ericsson when they released the P800 with out it!

People that are writing SMS while they are driving should have their drivers license withdrawn. That is one of the scariest things people can do while driving. Let's just hope they hurt themselves and not someone else.
