Missed Call Alert |

Does anyone know if there is software out there that will make an audio alert and/or vibrate if you've missed a call or SMS? I had this with my Treo and it was really handy in the night clubs or other loud places.....

Haven't heard of anything but I surprised at its usefulness. If you didn't hear the original call how do you hear this alert that you missed a call?
Personally I have my phone on vibrate all the time and it sits horizontally on my belt and I never miss calls like that.
I certainly wouldn't leave my phone on a table like a lot of people do!

Not so. I've just had a meeting, so left my P800 in my desk draw. Came back and the P800 screen was on ssaver/blank, so figured I hadn't missed any calls.
I then went to write an SMS, and lo!, '1 missed call'. Maybe this is just a problem with the P800 ssaver/pwer saver mode, as I recall my T68i used to have '1 missed call' visible on screen, just with no backlight on....

I haven't fully investigated but the t68i does something similar. The phone does indeed display "1 new message" or "1 missed call" e.t.c. and it should remain that way until the alert has been accepted/rejected. However under some circumstances the phone can leave that display and return to the clock. Like I say I have not tested this so I dont know which keypresses/conditions cause the phone to display the clock rather than the alert. It is however very annoying.

__spc__, now that IS one thing that annoys me. Colleagues who leave their mobile phones in their desk to ring and ring and RING and RING and RING and... well you get the point!
Its a mobile phone! not a desk phone! When I go to a meeting I put my phone into MEETING profile but it stays on my belt. I can feel a vibrate if someone calls but no noise and when I leave the meeting I know I have to check for the call, or message, or next meeting reminder or whatever.

Don't get me wrong; whenever I leave my phone anywhere, it gets left on 'silent' everytime - likewise when I'm on public transport, or even in the gents' barbers! Mobiles - I love 'em - but they seem to give the masses carte blanche for being inconsiderate and rude.
Mobiles in the office is my *current* pet hate, oh yes! A la 'Trigger Happy TV' - "HELLO?! HELLO? - I'M IN THE OFFICE!!"

...in fact, the only time my phone's on audible is when I'm out and about (not public transport) and at home...
It's weird isn't it? Polyphonics, and general fancy ringtones sound fantastic when you download them to the phone - then the first time the phone goes off, you realise just how crass they sound!

My thoughts exactly! I have never used ringtones since I got my first phone that could vibrate, a Startac 70, way back in... well way way back!

I really hate it when u are in public transport, pub, on the beach or in a restaurant that someons mobile goes off and then they cant find it directly and if they found it they go and jell into the thing and the whole place knows what they are talking about. i find it nice irritating.

I'm not a fan of musical ringtones, poly or otherwise, I find it irritating and disruptive.
I just wish I could have the 68i Mixed ring on my 610 without it turning into a poly tone! all attempts failed so far. (Old phone makes do for now) |

Nooooooooooooo!!!!
The mixed ringtone is the equivalent to the *extremely* irritating N*kia tune! (However, strangely, I find the N*kia tune acceptable from my phones, tho' I suspect the irony is lost on most!)
