I have been using PDAs for years and addicted to TomeRaider developped by Proporta http://www.proporta.com (famous for their pda cases and other accessories - to me anyway ) as I reckon being the best Reader around in terms of simplicity and most important: wide availability of files to read (books, encyplopedia, all Free!...
Well that's great, they emailed me yesterday with that news and I have now tried it and it works on my P800!!! (I initially downloaded the trial from http://www.proporta.com/detail.asp?id=517 ).
Forget the camcorder, get on with your cells, TomeRaider is here .
That's great news for all of us!!! And !!! I also bought from them a sync-charge USB cable (2-in-1) that happens to be very very convenient on the move as I can also sync and charge. Unfortunately I had to phone them to check as they advertise it as T68 compliant not mentionning the P800!!!
I got it from http://www.proporta.com/detail.asp?id=465 (have to select the Ericcson Type A); got it this morning and it works beautifully!
To get TR (TomeRaider) files I think one of the best link is from the tomeraider site itself ( http://www.tomeraider.com ).
Enjoy !!!
PS: please excuse my poor English as I am froggy...

I had TombRaider on the XDA and being able to look at details from IMDB was perhaps for me just the best - every film since 1920 in a 16 meg file - amazing.

Forgot to mention: the USB cable allows to charge from a computer using the USB socket or from any socket using an USB adapter (car, mains, 9V battery), BUT it does not Sync. Maybe they'll come with a sync one as well...
thanks

I downloaded TomeRaider yesterday and it seems very useful. It's a shame that there's no 'find' function though. Also they're asking 20 quid for a beta release! |

No find, yes, hence the reason why it is a beta I guess...
20 quid, I think, is nothing for a multiplatform viewer that has been around for years and therefore enabling to access thousands of free texts...

I will pay £20 for it eventually, as soon as it will allow me to install it to the Duo card, AND I also cannot get it to see TomeRaider files anywhere other than C, which is not much good when you are installing a 17meg file.

That's the only real current limitation I encountered as well, you're right. So for the moment I leave the encyclopedia at home and carry books only

Yes, the lack of install to D: is slightly annoying. I suspect the final release will fix this.
As for the storing of files to D:, they have to be in either the root of the drive or in a 'D:/tomeRaider' folder. You can't access either of these directly from your computer (well, I think you could from a MS card reader), as My P800 only gives access to folders lower down the tree.
The temporary fix is to copy TomeRaider files to somewhere on your card (say documents/untitled) and then use a file manager program (I use the one in Tracker) to copy the files to either the root of D: or a D:/tomeRaider folder that you created earlier. This works, even though it's a bit of a pain. |
