P800 as a web cam? |

Hello!
I notice the camera API is being distributed, and a CamCorder beta has been leaked.
Anybody knows whether we could use the P800 as a Windows web cam?
It would be useful when connected, say, via IR or Bluetooth or USB... |

Well, we know that the P800 can record video, and normally 10 seconds is around 80kb, so that's 8kb per second. I am sure the USB (aka serial in disguise) port can handle that sort of transfer.
Therefore I see that the main thing that would need to be developed would be a USB virtual webcam driver for the PC, and possibly also an app for the phone.
There is one drawback with this method - how are you going to use the camera as a webcam when it's in the cradle facing the back of your desk and pointing downwards? That just leaves Bluetooth, and I don't know if it's fast enough. You'd also have to hold your phone rather than have it sitting on the desk.
My advice: Spend £30 and get a half decent webcam... |
