I will probably get flamed for this but have searched for an hour without any help.

I would like to know what and how to back up my phone before I get a firmware update on Monday, from R1D to R2F as I remember reading that the backup and sync don't work.

Please help, as I have a lot of stuff on my phone that I would like to keep there!!

I got upgraded from R1D to R2F and I was able to restore a previous back up to my P800.. As far as I am aware it is the ROM on the P8.. that gets the upgrade to R2F..

Last weekend I spoke to a local upgrade place and they said not to do a restore after an upgrade as it'll over-write some new files installed during the upgrade.

While a sync would restore my contacts, it's kind of frustrating as I've got a lot of software that I'd have to reinstall.

Is this true? Does anyone have any comments on this?

I did a restore after I upgraded the phone, and haven't had any problems with it..
