I have done a search but didnt find what I was looking for.

1. I have Photodeluxe and I want to take some existing pics I have and make backgrounds.
How do I do this?
What size do I save the gif in? I tried on saved it 107 x 80 and in gif but the phone says the pic is to big and I get an error on the PC. I am using IR at 19200 and 9600.

2. How do I change the "AT&T Wirless" logo that apeers over my background.

Much Thank!

1. The image ned to be 101x 80, not 107x80... thats why its too big.

2. By AT&T logo, i presume you mean the operator text on the status screen. You cant actually remove it from the phone, or change it at all.

Thanks for taking the time.

Too bad about the AT&T logo.

I went ahead and shrunk my pic down to 101 x 80 pixels at 236.22 resolution ( I guess that changes with the pixel size). It says the file size is 24k....still wont work.

What to do?

if your sending over IR, the file size is maximum 10k, but its recommended to be 8k. You dont need it to be that high resolution either, make it lower to decrease file size.

Damn, I cant get it to work!

Everytime I got to save the pic in Photodeluxe it wants to save it as a .pdd. I change it to gif and I still get the error and "pic too big".

When I imported a pic that I know works into Photodeluxe, it tells me that the pic is 101 x80 at 75 res and it 's about 7k. When I set the same perameters for my pick it tells me that the file is 64k...

Hmmm

Have you tried the software named MyPictures that can be downloaded for free from the web site? You import your picture into this program, and it makes the dithering for you, and it also supports uploading the picture to your phone.
Even if the pixel dimensions of a gif file are within the limits, the file can still become too large, because the file size of the gif file is not only dependent of the width and height, since the contents is compressed. Depending on the structure of the picture, the compression ratio may vary. Also, there is a 256 color color map you have to stick to, and if the colors in your picture don't match this colormap, the picture will not be displayed correctly. the MyPictures program fixes this problem for you too.

Mr Toyz,..before you do anything, convert the picture into e.g. jpg format.

Then resize the picture to 101 x 80.

If you dont have a direct option to "save as: GIF" or "export",
then convert the picture into INDEXED COLORS instead of RGB.

Then save/export as gif (adapted palette gives you this option :
you should now be able to save the picture in either of these colors : 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256.)

If you choose 8 colors, the file will be low in kb.
If you choose maximum 256 colors, the file will be big in kb.

I did get it!

Is there any way to get a more crisp pic. It turned out fairly grainy...
