Usually the Voice Mail Greeting is handled by the Carrier. I dont think it is possible to set different sounds for Voice Mail Notification, someone I am sure will chime in that knows more.

voice mail is network dependent and is not related to your phone. at least this is true if i understand your question right. your recording for people who call you cannot be altered based on the phone you use. but if you mean you want to change your alert on your phone then i have seen some threads here that talk about using 3rd party software to change this.....

hope this helped

You can usually record you own greeting I am on Orange UK and can do that in my Voicemail options just play your CD loudly and hold the phone close to the speaker while you doi, thats what I did and it works a treat

Alternatively I have come across this website that will do it for you for a small fee http://www.abiro.com/lab/mobile.htm

Erm, it's not quite correct to say that it's the carrier who handles voice messages and that the phone can't.

Remember the little Sony Z series phones? They could do Voice Messages and do them for particular callers.

There is also softwar available to do this which has yet to be ported to the P800. Of course this sort of software will not work if you are out of coverage area or switch your phone off, voice messages would then then be handled by your carrier.

To take a loot at the software I am talking about go here:

The product is called Mobile Assist (By Grey Matter India)
