Hi - I have lost my stero headset that came with the P800, and I cant find a replacement anywhere.

First up, I want to try and make my own set using a better quality headset.

I know that the Nokia headset has the same 4 pole, 2.5 plug, (I have one of these I can use), but I am not sure of the P800 pin configuration.

Does anybody know?

Thanks !

It's pretty self explanitory when you look at the cables inside.
You normally have a red, a white and ground (or bare) wire other wires you can pretty much ignore in this case.

I'm not sure about the exact configuration of the Nokia headset but it sould be pretty much the same.

Are you planning to fix the nokias male plug to a female 3.5mm Jack socket so that it can be used with normal headphones?

Yeah - I have bought a 3,5mm socket, which I intend to wire the 2.5mm nokia plug to. Then I can plug any standard 3.6mm headphones into my P800.

Problem is that the Nokia pin config is different from the P800, as the Nokia headsets dont work in the P800. I have found elsewhere on the web, the following info about the Nokia:

The tip is ground for speaker
The next pin in is for mic
The next pin in is the otehr wire to speaker
The fourth pin is for Mic.

Trouble is I do not know what the corresponding pins are for the P800, and I am not too keen to try by trial and error

Thanks

Well, I grabbed a multimeter, and it appears that the S-E 2.5mm plug is wired in this order:

Tip: Left speaker
Ring 1: Right speaker
Ring 2: Mic
Ring 3: Ground

-BB

P.S. Oh yeah - the speakers are 32ohm impedence, not 8ohm.
