Is there anything I can do about it? I have made sure that the port setting for the syncstation is set to 115200 bits per second (it was way lower default for some reason?), but its still incredible slow?
A 5 MB mp3 takes 5 minutes to copy to the phone
Anything that can be done to improve the speed through USB?

No it's not possible to speed that part up.
Though you can buy a memory stick card reader. Just make sure it can read the MSDUO or the larger pro I think it's called. Since you got an adapter for the 128mb msduo when you bought it.
Took me about 1-2 mins to put in 30 megs of OGG files. Can convert to OGG using dbpoweramp from www.dbpoweramp.com and you will be able to store a lot more music using settings like 64kbps mono and 44100hz.

As LordMike said - get a card reader, much much faster . Have a look at this thread http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=30334&forum=35#post419272 . |

Hi
Faced the same problem earlier when I got my 128mb Duo.
It was taking about 3+ mins to copy a 2.5mb file. Now, with the usb memory stick reader it only takes a few seconds.
Its a choice between an extra purchase and convenience/ease of use. IMHO its worth spending a few extra bucks on the reader. |
