Hi guys, wonder if you can help me ....

I get SMS text messages from some people with smileys in them that display on the P800 screen. Is there any way to send SMS Smileys with the P800?
(I'm on Orange UK unfortunately !!)

Thanks

No, the smileys are only in the phone. And they are shown only when the people who send you and sms uses the same letters as asigned in the smiley list. As for example would only be shown as : and ) but : - ) would be

lol yes you can! it doesnt depend on the network either! when you create an SMS, click edit then insert object, then smilies and voila apparantly from my experience it only works between SE phones

Actually, inserting the smiley as an object is just a shortcut . . . it takes up 3 characters . . . Send it to a non-SE mobile and youll see. This is the case on my T68 and T610.

Hey Naar,
You taught me something new today. For ages I've been trying to remember the smiley codes, now oh sage, you have shown me the error of my ways

I don't use the insert option for SMS as I don't know any one who will receive them, mate all have N0kia os Sharp GX10's.

Which other phones will accept sound, pictures etc as attachments to SMS's ?

Thanks,
LGN

The way that SE phones change the characters into little pictures is pretty cool and how you can insert smilies as symbols. It was one thing on my T68i my girlfriend loved and now she loves it on her T610. The ability to view pictures, have sounds and change formatting etc with SMSs is EMS (Enhanced Messaging Service I think). SE/Ericsson phones have been compatible with EMS for a while, and the newer Siemens phones are. Nokias don't support it. Even the latest ones! Just check the features list for EMS to know if your friends phone is compatible. [addsig]

another "tip".

On the T68i/T300 the code ":-*" becomes a "kiss"

doesnt display on teh P800 though, but if u are sending a text to a T68i/T300 owner of the "opposite sex" (or same sex, if you are so inclined), just enter that code to make their day!

It may work with the T610, but i have not tested it.

Oh and another trick on the T68i/T300, whcih has been mentioned before, but I am adding just in case anyone missed it. Entering the smilies into a persons phonebook name entry causes the smily to be displayed when they call u
