Hi,

Anybody knows the "special secret code" to unlock Fido's T68i?

[start clip]
The instructions is as follows but I have no idea what the code is:

To activate/deactivate this lock one needs a special secret code that is not available to the end user.

Here is how to activate the menu:

<**< Lock to Network? if pressing yes you have 5 attempts to enter NCK.

<**<< Lock to Network subset? if pressing yes you have 5 attempts to enter NSCK.

Warning: Your phone can be locked to a service provider FOREVER by doing this! If an invalid code is entered all five times, the menu will exit and be deactivated! Any further attempt to activate the NCK/NSCK lock Menu will result in the response "Not allowed"! However the NCK/NSCK lock can be recover through a direct clearing in the EEPROM.

[end clip]

Thanks!

call your network provider.... as already said, each phone has it's own unique unlock code based on the IMEI number.

Yep, phone your network and ask for it, it'll cost you about 20 quid tho.

Will my provider be willing to give out those codes? I mean, if the locks are there to deter changing of providers, would they really tell me the codes? Is there a swift way of asking for those codes without being too blunt like "arr... I'm going to change providers, so gimme my codes?" Thanks

I just called fido on my lunch hour and they told me that it'll cost me $250CDN to get those codes. It's outrageous. Apparently I can see why they would not give it to me if I'm a new subscriber. Considering I've been with them for 4 years and I've bought a few phones from them: nokia8890, ericsson t28w, sonyericsson t68i and sonyericsson p800; (I should add that my nokia8890 and t28w were never locked). I'm quite disappointed. I pay full price for the phones and yet they're locked.
