Here are some photos of the new "CamCoder" application for P800. It requires a firmware of at least "R2D" in order to use and it is still buggy with failures and inability to play from a MMS receipt, at least on my firmware which is "R2D" but not the latest organizer version. First of all, it will only record 10 seconds or 79kb of video in the Mp4 format, but this is actually all you need at this time due to the fact the video is stored in internal memory with no preferences yet for longer video or external storage. I am very excited regarding it's use, though, and have attached some photos of it in operation. It will play in full screen mode and the camcorder function is viewed much the same as the communicam without any preferences or adjustment at this time for picture quality. I found that it did a very good job in well lit areas and for a beta program, it will suffice until the final version is released. Most importantly,,it works!!!.......and let's those of us who have had the phone for some time actually appreciate the true power of this device and the Symbian operating system.

Photos:

Opening screen, the bottom buttons control the sending of the file via email, MMS, bluetooth, etc.,,Play for video playback, camera is for opening the camcorder function.

No preferences for the program yet, very basic, but works...

The viewfinder while using the camcorder function. The quality is actually very clear, just like the communicam, evidently my hand was a little shaky while recording and taking a photo of what I was recording.....

The transfer menu...

Playback screen in normal mode, the button to the right of the "pause" button is for full screen playback....

Full screen playback is smooth and just amazing,,,,at least for me,,,,,,that the phone is now a handheld camcorder...can't wait for a full version that can record to a 128mb memory stick with preferences for adjusting image quality...

End of playback the viewer returns to normal mode....

I have been able to send and receive video sent from the phone via MMS, however, I can not get it to open and play when sent to me by others via MMS, have not tested whether this is a problem when sent via email yet where programs attached are usually prompted to be saved and that would allow you to open it through the normal video viewer.

Opinion,,,,If you have "R2D" firmware and enough space on your internal memory, install it on your P800, it's fun, and it's waaayyyy cool!!! Don't bitch and complain when it doesn't work the first time you open it for one of your friends are about the video quality at this time, it's a beta, just be happy to see that the P800 is indeed the "ULTIMATE HANDHELD DEVICE" out there at this time...no crybabies from Nokia please, the 3650 is not the same kind of device.....

Bengalboy say's get it, but be sure you have the latest firmware or you will just be frustrating yourself.

surprisingly good ap.. final release definately needs a re-think of its currently, rather ugly UI.. Also all the usual settings we see in CommuniCam (altho i think night mode would be no good).. especially quality settings.. Back to the UI- it needs to fit in with other Symbian Aps, have a folder selector on top right etc, that way recording onto Duo would be possible... i think a copy/combination of the \"Video\" and \"CommuniCam\" interfaces would work best and be most astheticly pleasing.. Also the ability to use the \"Cam\" button to start/stop recording would be nice (& perhaps launch CamCoder- but i think Cam is best suited for lauching the CommuniCam). And finally the option to Record sound, and perhaps apply some filters while recording (Black & White takes my fancy- it would be nice to see this in the CommuniCam too).. But as i say.. still a great ap, just the above would make it better.. Can't wait for final release, free or not!! Thanks to the developers. ~woz

For anyone who can't find the program let me know and I will email it to you. Nice to see you posting in my threads once again Patchy...if the other thread is so informative, why read mine??

Very nice suggestions Wozza, I am sure most of your observations will be in a final release, though I doubt sound will make it as the size of the file would increase dramatically. Really depends on being able to store the file on exteral memory instead of internal. It also appears that the current offering is customized for MMS use as the file size in 79kb and the MMS limit on Tmobile here in the U.S. is 100kb. It can be sent with a voice message in front of it via MMS but right now no one can open and play it that I have found. Most current firmware is needed on the phone in order to use it, and most current firmware is also needed to open it in MMS and play it.

I can't believe people still ask this almost daily!

On all recent Ericsson and Sony Ericsson phones the sequence is

> * < < * < *

where < and > are joystick movements in that direction. (on p800 they are jogdial movements)

On the P800 there is an even easier way. From the applications screen just click on view then system information!

Here are some photos of a video I took today of Amy at the Lake, it does a very good job of reproducing colors in bright sunlight and I continue to be impressed with this application. If the final version allows you to store to a 128mb stick with audio, you could easily have over 1 hour of video in your pocket at all times. Ain't technology sexy!!

@Bengalboy, Lots of people have been waiting for this app & once again you have blatently used it as yet another excuse to post even MORE pictures of your friend. this thread is no use at all for people viewing on a P800 as you well know.
The reason i gave the link to the more informative thread is because instead of loads of pictures of a woman in a bikini, it actually contained the vid app download details.
You ARE correct in wondering WHY i read your thread because i could of guessed the content!

Yeah BengalBoy are you tryin to convince us you're not gay?

Anyway, I'm not readin any thread I see with your name as the poster, cos your costing me money in bandwidth charges (due to pictures of some bint) to view any thread you start.

No dammit, while I'm at it, I'm getting seriously pissed off with BengalBoy. If it's not some woman it's some f*ckin metal sticks.
Mods can you stop posters embedding so many/such large pics in their posts. And if people are selling stuff can you move their posts to the 'Items for Sale' forum.

And BengalBoy just post a link to your website where you store the pics. That way you are using your bandwidth costs and not mine.
