MPEG4 encoder - Which produces the most universal file format ? |

I am aware of the following products: Packet Video (PV) Author, QuickTime Pro 6.3, Mpegable X4 Live.
From what I have read it appears that PV Author can produce an mpeg4 movie file that contains both AAC and AMR audio codecs. Which sould mean that once you have produced the file anyone, including Nokia (AMR audio) users, should be able to view the video.
Q1. AM I CORRECT ON THAT ONE?
QuickTime Pro 6.3 is able to produce files with the AMR audio standard. But I am not sure, and I couldnt find out from the Apple site, whether or not the program can produce a single file with two audio codecs.
Q2. CAN QuickTime Pro PRODUCE MP4 FILES WITH BOTH AMR AND AAC CODED AUDIO OR DO YOU HAVE TO MAKE UP YOUR MIND WHICH OF THE TWO YOU WANT TO USE?
As for Mpegable, I am already using the programme for testing and it only supports AAC encoded audio.
Basically I just want to use a program that can produce a video file that anyone, no matter what player or phone they are using, can view.
I would appreciate some help on this.
Thanks in advance. | |

When I tried making an mp4 with quicktime 6 it doesnt seem to work@all on my P800. #
I kind of understand that various programs encode mp4 differently, it seems there is not technically a standard, like mp3, as such?
The best program to encode to mp4 for the P800, from what I have read from other posts, seems to be mpegableX4.

i use sorenson squezze. Simply the best programme sure is unde rated though mpegables to basic though. Squeeze allows me around 2 minutes @ 1Mb and supports ARC and AMC and AA and just about everything else you need. Flaskmpeg is great if you plan to put your favourite DVD movies on to your P800

@ Vermania
- Squeeze -
Could you tell me if Squeeze will do what I want?
Namely, to produce one file that has dual audio codecs.
If it can to that can you give me the link to the publisher's website.
- FlaskMPEG -
What does that do?
Is it ripping straight from DVD to MPEG?
Or is it converting your already ripped VOB files to MPEG?
And if MPEG, what version is it? DivX?

"from what I have read from other posts, seems to be mpegableX4."
Don't think so, I've done a tutorial of how to copnvert video do mp4 in x4, pv author and broadcaster.
And, the one that I liked the most was "broadcaster", but it is the most expensive! |

I just bought Moviemaker for P800 by Makayama Software, http://www.makayama.com
It simply converts movie-files into mp4 for the P800. I have only tested it a little, but it seems to do the trick.
They have a demoversion to try out - but you can only convert small files with the demo since it quits after a minute(!)
On a sidenote - I bought my P800 on a impulse to play around with it. So far Im incredible impressed.. I mean a phone I can use as a camera, mp3 player, games, web, and I installed NetwIRC to keep in touch with friends in irc during my holliday =)) |

Actually, I find QuickTime does it quite well.
I use QuickTime Pro 6.3 on my Dell, with original video coming from the 1gz iMac - it's not the most original video ever, actually it's business talking heads, spoken in Dutch, but it works perfectly.
I've given up on encoding specifically MPEG4 and gone on to 3GPP - you can go to Apple's QuickTime site and download the additional codec. It seems that the Mobile MPEG-4 and MPEG 5.1 profiles offer the best balance between performance and color fidelity. For work like this I used to do it through Cleaner 6, but I'm finding that the QuickTime export is perfectly suitable.
I just want to check a few samples first and then I'll post the address for y'all to test. I'll also see if I can get a streaming 3GPP running...
On the original question, I believe AMR is the audio component in Mobile MPEG & 4.3 profiles, and AAC in the 5.1 profile. You generally choose one audio codec, or else your video becomes unnecessarily large. In any case, it becomes an invalid MPEG type because it carries two muxed audio channels. It may play, but it's not a legit MPEG-4.
