you know, I was wondering. couldn't some mobile phone manufacturer actually design something so that a person could use mp3 music in place of ringtones.

i mean, maybe you'd have to change the speakers or whatever, but it would be much cooler [doesn't have to be a full 14 minute song, could be just 30-60 seconds or whatever] [addsig]

In fact there already are some devices that allow you to record and play a melody from a normal audio source. So I guess that it shouldn't be too complicated to play mp3's as ringtones...

What about that samsung MP3 phone or the T68i enhanced MP3 player mode?

I know some of the Sony J series can record songs and play them back on a loud speaker.

I think that the next big choice we will face will be...Stinger or symbian? The two platforms are different but I think we are on the winning side since Sony will be able to integrate phones in a much gadget richer environment. Does anyone agree? Or am I getting it wrong

Ops,wrote the wrong post here...Sorry.But I wanted to say, beside what I posted here before, that my guess is that copyright problems prevent up from having such a feature.I also think that Snow could free some of their songs to allow up to use them instead of the poor ringtones we actually use...
