Sad Day.... |

It is with great sadness that I've decided to give up the P800. I can live with the minor problems such as the OS crashing and requiring a button to be pressed for 10 seconds or the fact that the numeric plastic keypad has only two small thin flimsy tabs to support them or even the quality of the pictures it takes. What I can't live without is the fact that this phone, which is supposed to have the functionality of a PDA cannot synchronize the contacts with Lotus Notes V6 !! I consider the contacts to be the most important element of a PDA/mobile !! I am no longer willing to update contacts twice - once on the PC and then on the phone.
After searching and asking for over 4 months, I have come to the conclusion that the sync software for this phone was written by a bunch of morons - I have never been able to identify them and I guess (being a programmer myself), I would be ashamed to even say that I wrote part of that software ! SE have done some very big damage by selling a phone without support - and I say without support because if you're going to support any software when you release your product, you must support the software which is current at that day !
So, I shall be switching to a phone which requires external sunchronising software - at least if I pay for the software, I can get some support for it ! I once left Motorola because of their sad customer service and non-existant service recovery and I think SE have gone the same way too ! Its a shame that some companies fail to recognise that they can only survive if they are customer-focused rather than product-focused with their heads up their own a*%&^s !!!
Sorry for the long moan but I hope someone posts this to a senior manager in SE who can make a difference in the company !!
Anyone got any bright ideas of which phone I can go for ? All good ideas will be appreciated !! |

I'm Glad to hear you've had a good day ole1973 !
I think its sad for me as I have wasted time and effort on something which I don't believe it provides value-for-money but more importantly, I think its sad for the SE who don't seem to care about their customers !
I hope & wish you continue to have good days !! |

I have no complaint whatsoever about SE customer support (Portuguese).
They're quick when replying to my emails, the service is also fast, etc...
I'm very very happy with SE customer support.
But hey, cust. support can vary from country to country.
In the US it seems they're really a pain in the a**.

If you think SE support is bad then you should try getting a 9210 and calling Nokia - You ain't seen nothing yet !!
Just have a look at the 9210 forums regarding synchronisation. Trust me, the P800 is a breeze compared to the Nokia one ....

Hmm... Does XTNDConnect work with the P800? In that case it should be possible since XTNDConnect has support for Lotus Notes.
IMHO Lotus Notes isn't very good.. but of course that's beside the point, you should be able to sync with Lotus Notes. Have tried asking SE support. Surely they would be able to help. |

I checked this earlier on and contacted them. They only support the 610 or 68 (T series). It seems that "something" else wrote the sync software for the P800 ! Maybe if I sold my P800 and bought the T610 then... any thoughts on this ?
BTW, thanks to those who told me about the Nokia problems ! I've had problems with Mototola before too ! Where does that leave me ???
Has anyone tried "Mightyphone" from Handango or www.mightyphone.com ???

i havent seen a lot of replies to you about possible replacements so here is my 2 cents:
try a panasonic gd87 for a phone and get a zarus for your pda
or the siemens sl55 seems prettyslick
then again, if i were going to forget all the pleasures that is the p800 then the only phone to get is a panasonic gd55. so small you forget its there and thats all you need in a phone.
everyone has a photographic memory...some just don't have film |
