harddrive mapping, mail shop, locking & notepad?? |

I'm very new to the p800 but have read a few posts and have got stuck in!!! May I ask a few questions?
1. When the usb adapter is plugged in, is there any way I can use the space on my p800 as a harddrive on my computer? (for example like one of those pen drives)
2. Does anyone know a cheap shop/mail order place (which delivers to or is in the UK) to get 128mb ram, a protective cover for my p800 and other accessories for the p800
3. Can i lock whilst in flip open mode. I have removed the flip and hardly ever use the virtual keypad (i have found out how to lock when the keypad is visible but not when in flip open mode).
4. Is there a better app to write things than the jotter? Just a notepad thing which saved files in simple format would be good, ie .txt files.
thanks for reading!!

Hi Twisted1,
Go see the Brando Workshop WWW site - $100 for 128MB DUO, and $10-15 for a screen protector. They delivered to me in 4 days...
Steven.
(I don't use keypad-off mode.)

1. By "When the usb adapter is plugged in", do you mean the P800 is in its usb cradle? If so, then your P800 should come up in Windows Explorer similar to your other hard drive, cd roms, etc (if you have PC Suite properly installed). Although it would be useless to use as extra hard drive space for your PC, but handy to transfer files (only if the recipient has a P800 cradle, infrared or Bluetooth).
2. www.p800er.com
3. The only lock that is part of the phone OS for FO mode requires the Pin to entered every time you want to unlock it, which would get frustrating. Tracker, Active Desk, Handy Day etc all have locksfor FO mode, each with their own advantages. I use Tracker. I have mapped the blue button to lock, so it's once click lock, two clicks unlock.
4. I actually dont mind jotter. I use the Bold and Dot points all the time. Its simplicity makes it perfect for taking quick notes. You can send the text as a .txt file using bt etc if I'm not mistaken.
Hope this helps.

thanks v.much Steve and Jimmy
1. I use the cradle. Currently I use a pen drive and wondered whether I could do without it and put some files on my p800 and edit them without copying them over each time. I'm not too optimistic about finding a solution, not too bothered either, would just be handy so I can do away with the pen drive.
2. Looks like I'll be splashing some cash!!!
3. I'll try Tracker later on today and let you know how I get on
4. Yeah, jotter ain't too bad really. I don't have bluetooth, e-mail or infrared so can't send the notes individually anywhere. However, I have managed to open the jotter file and you can copy and paste the text, just a bit fiddley really.

Better apps than Jotter are:
Jtext (simple java text exitor - save files to .txt)
Notepadder (Same as Jtext)
Both freeware i believe | |
