I received my mca-25 this day, but it does'nt work. Nothing happens when I plug it into the phone, and the communicam-option in the menu is still disabled. Is my mca-25 broken, or do I have to upgrade my phone firmware? My firmware is R2E006.

You will be better off if you upgrade your firmware as you will then be able to use the zoom but this is not your problem.

Sometimes I found I had to disconnect a recconect to get the phone to recognise the cam.

try cleaning the contacts on the bottom of the phone too.

If that still doesn't work then perhaps its a faulty cam so try it on a friends T300, T310 or T68i etc and see if it works for them.

One question. is the MCA-20 not the most suitable camera for the T68i??
and the MCA-25 for the newer phones like T310 etc.

No, the MCA-25 works perfectly well on the T68i and with firmware R6A or later you can use the zoom feature. The only thing you cannot use is the camera effects.

Obviously the MCA-20 is styled to suit the T68i though.

oh ok. well I guess I am wrong about the effects. I was sure on R6A the effects didn't work but I gave my last T68i to my brother last week so I can't test it. Thanks for confirming that.

Thanks. yes you are right the design of the MCA-20 suits the T68i. but i was afraid that the T68i could not use all the features of the MCA-25..

What is the price for a MCA-20.? here it kost from 90 til 100 euros.....

I tested the camera with another t68i yesterday. It worked on this phone, so there is nothing wrong with the camera. It was a brand new phone at a sony-ericsson store. I am going to upgrade the firmware today.

Speaking of cams, I was considering getting a MCA-20 just for the 'fun factor' whats the sort of price I should expect to pay (non main store price) ?

Handed in my phone for firmware upgrade yesterday. When I came back the repairman said the phone was broken and had to be sent to SE. The phone worked perfectly before. (besides the non-working camera issue.) Now it was only good for calling and sms. Key-lock, MMS, IR, Bluetooth etc makes the phone hang. The service-senter said that they where only able to upgrade the software on parts of the phone. It now had R8.. on the main part, but still R2E008 on the communication module.
Very irritating indeed!.
So the phone is now on its way to SE. I had no other option after the service senter fxxked it up. Back to the old 6110......
