well how do i know which one it is?

i followed the steps to creating the settings and copied the CID # which is 3 however now when the pocket pc tries to connect with the string *9***3# the phone says GPRS PARAMETER NOT SUPPORTED and flakes off.

any tips?

please note, i dont have any DNS numbers entered in the pocket pc .. also, when i try to connect, it asks me for a username and password on the pocket pc. i just hit OK leaving them blank

The correct dialling number should be *99***3# (you missed a 9).

You are correct to leave username and password and domain blank but you may have to check your dialing locations and set the to G only otherwise the pocketpc will try to put extra dialling codes etc into the dialling number.

actually, it is doing two 9's. that was a typo.
I changed all the dialing preferences to G's so i do see the phone say *99***3# ...
the phone says connecting then quickly returns with "GPRS parameters not supported"

Ok more often than not that message means you don't have GPRS internet activated (even if you are using GPRS WAP) so give the telco a call and see what they say.

Also to take the pocketpc out of the loop and make sure the GPRS internet is working, try setting up an email account on the phone, make it connect to that same data account and ensure that works.

To add to what masseur said, you might need to use different APNs for GPRS WAP and GPRS internet.
In my case I use APN "wap" for wap, and APN "internet" for everything else
