Broken flap on P800 |

Hi folks,
about a week ago i noticed my number pad/flap was not responding well at all when i was trying to dial phone numbers. After looking at it more carefully i noticed one of the tabs (on the right side) that hold the flap off the screen when closed had broken off.
I called SE Support and they told me that this part was not available yet
I know i can remove the flap and use the phone without it but i personally am not fond of using the phone that way. Has anyone else run in to this problem and have any other solutions ?
I guess i can always try to fabricate something and super glue it on for the time being.

Are you sure that there's no part for it from SE yet? Will it be available later? |

Same problem here, they are suppose to be sending me one under warranty. They said it was on backorder and it hasn't showed up yet, go figure. |

i agree. but i put it back once or twice just to see if it really looks better with the "flap"(hehehe) on. Trying to convince myself that it looks better. but NAH, it definitely looks better without it.
It makes the nokia users drool since P800 has a touch screen.
Own a P800.. It's definitely worth your money. |

I had the same problem and I was in Hong Kong at the time. They sold me a new one for $10 us. Maybe I should buy some more and put them on ebay... |

I had the same exact problem (the original post describes what happened to me to frightning detail).
I think the flip's quality is not so great
I used the phone flipless for about a month, but I still prefer the flip-on mode.
Luckily a friend of mine was able to obtain a spare and he sent me one.
I'm a happy P800 camper once more... |

i sent sony ericsson customer service a very long email yesterday. It mainly voiced my concerns about the quality of the keypad on such an expensive phone and more to the point, their refusal to admit a design flaw. It is simply apalling. I received a new pad on Monday which i paid for only to realise yesterday that it had fractured again but the tab was still hanging on waiting to snap off. I have sent it back , waiting for another replacement. The fact that the company didn't argue about replacing it says a lot about 'known issues' with the kepad tabs. Please send sony ericsson some more emails so they realise how unhappy we all are with their customer service policy.

I started to use it also without the flip but now I see that the battery drains more quickly. I think that reson is that I touch more ofthe the screen and it lits up. In spite of the Handy day lock. I tried to use the tracker lock but all the time a calendar or task reminder came up i twent a bit crazy. You could use the phone but the icons on top were not to be seen and used.
Now I try to live with handy day lock. |
