Magic Gate gives the stick the capability to encrypt music to try and keep people from illegally copying it... It's a stupid idea that doesn't accomplish the goal. I know b/c I bought the Sony MP3 player not realizing this limitation, but the damn thing only plays music that you load to the stick through a Magic Gate enabled piece of SW on your PC through the USB cable provided to connect to the MP3 player... As a result, I can't just put the Memory Stick into my PC and copy music to it - which was the very reason I bought the damn Sony MP3 player!

Sorry to rant!

You know if you buy a MS reader you will be about to copy them striaght across, not in explorer thou, you will have to use the program that came with your Altrac player(Not and MP3 player).

Thats why I did not buy that player!

The guy above is totaly correct! Makes no difference with the P800 because the phone way half, well almost all of it developed by ericsson and not sony, if sony had a big say in it, you would not be allowed to play MP3 music on it!

The main problem I think sony will have with the future of these phones is because the OS is Non-Sony made they have no control on what music players can go onto it, therefore, there always should be a MP3 player on future P800's!!
