This is not a P800 question at all. So you are posting wrong.
Anyway... I recommend Musicmatch Jukebox from http://www.musicmatch.com/ which I think is great. Easy to use and it makes the filenames to ID tags when ripping a cd. It also gets most cd info from cddb. And if you only get Track 1, 2, 3 etc. You will have to fill it in for yourself and then you have the option to send that info to cddb.

If you're only converting MP3s for your P800, don't. Convert them to .ogg files and download the OggPlay application. Look at one of the OggPlay topics to learn about it.
Using my Siemens S46 till I finish saving my pennies for a P800 (or maybe a Treo 600)!

As you can see there is no "best" mp3 ripper. I like musicmatch jukebox, because that's what I got now. I had audiograbber years ago. Liked it a lot back then. never had a bad ripper. So just try what you find interresting. When it comes to OGG rippers (which you didn't ask for) I like dbpoweramp http://www.dbpoweramp.com/ which is the only one I tested. Easy to use. And the quality is good enough on my P800. I know a lot of users like other progs to rip cd's to ogg. I just haven't seen a reason to try others when I am happy with this one.

Go with Oggs. Use a variable bit rate with an average of 64kbps and you will get very decent quality audio with a really small file size. I rip whole CDs to ogg and they are not much more than 20mb for the whole album. This means you can fit 5 or 6 whole albums on your P800. And with the way OggPlayer is coming along so damn nicely, who wouldn't use Oggs?

PS. dBPowerAMP is all you'll need to do all your ripping, including downsampling audio into small .wav files to use as ringtones. I like to keep the audio pretty clear so I have a few 20 second .wav ring tones that I've brought down to about 400kb. [addsig]

Again, maybe a little more clearly:

- if you want MP3's for a bunch of reasons (MP3 Player, AV system, car, whatever), then the references above are good. MP3 is cool because it's compatible with a bunch of players.

- but if you just want to put music on your P800 DON'T use MP3! They take too much valuable memory space. Convert your CDs to .oggs using DBPower AMP.
