Thinking of going back to a T68i... |

I have an iPaq 1910 and a P800, but I am leaning towards getting a 2210 and a T68i or maybe S55.
Question is, how much would a T68i owner offer me on top of the phone for my 3 month old P800 locked to Orange?
BTW, am in the UK.
Am only thinking about this by the way, seems silly carrying something the size of the P800 and the iPaq, and I don't use the PDA functions on the P800 at all. |

And why don't you use the PDA functions of P800?

Because I like the PPC pda functions more, the calendar is far more powerful, and it's just habit, I have been using pda's for many years now, and the P800 has a little way to go before it's a serious contender for business PDA use, unless all you need is basic notes, contacts, and calendar functions. Plus, no real Word or Excel integration yet.
As a multimedia phone, it's fantastic, and I use the camera quite a bit, but only for fun, nothing that I would really miss. |

I was under the impression that the P800 managed Office/.PDF files as equally as well as a PDA, like an IPAQ.
I wasb gonna get a PDA to complement my T68i, but gave the T68i to the missus and went for the P800 option. Lovin' it so far....

You can view Office files, and with software like Repligo, you can view them even better, but you can't create a Word doc and email it to someone for example, which I do on my PPC.
You can't use Excel and create expenses sheets and email them off.
You can't manage time/resources in the calendar.
As I say, it's only the serious side of PDA use it lacks, but I still think I would be happier with a T68i and a higher spec PPC, than struggling between two devices.
I mean, a P800 goes for £300 minimum, and a T68i goes for £100 max, so a T68i and £200 should be more than fair, provided the thing is still under warranry and is in good condition.
Then I sell my 1910, would only need about £170 (it's only 6 weeks old) which should be easy enough, and I get a 2210.
Then I have bluetooth connection to the T68i for GPRS use, and I have a far more powerful set-up, and also means I can go out with a small phone if I don't need a PDA.
I am talking myself into this more and more
I live in Birmingham if anyone local want's to do this!

Doh! Yeah, forgot the PDA version of Office; what griped me with this though was that it would 'kill' the formatting/pics of fancy Office files - i.e. the PDA with Word is not the same as a PC with Word (no surprises there really!), and this was enough to put me off. Secondly, I'm a 'light' PDA user, so the P800 does it all for me...
Strangely, since I gave the T68i to the wife, I'm more impressed by it than ever!
Good luck!
Steven.

I don't need much more than basic formatting in my docs, they are all fairly basic, but the ability to make them is a must for me |

I'm wondering... Why did you buy a P800 if you have an IPAQ ? I think the best might have been to test the P800 first to know what you were buying...
I had a T68i and IPAQ, sold them both and got a P800. There's no way I'll ever go back now. After using the IPAQ for a while, I just came to the conclusion that all I needed is on the P800, and the rest is "nice to have" but absolutely not necessary. You *think* you need them, but if you analyze your real usage it's just the things you show to colleagues or friends to impress them
Furthermore, having to carry everytime the phone and the IPAQ is possible in the winter when you have a jacket but really painfull when you dress a bit lighter.
As mentionned above, if you really need something to edit or work on Word and Excel docs, buy a laptop... |

Gotta agree with Andy_P:
On Vodafone, last week, it was cheaper to take a P800 with a new connection rather than upgrade my T68i on the existing contract.
Trading the old phone in, *and* subscribing to a cheaper monthly tariff (albeit 12 month copntract again), the P800 cost me £230 new.
Probably looking at not much more than £150+T68i for 2nd hand P800....

Well if need be, I will do it via ebay.
As you can see from looking on there, £300 min for a P800, £100 max for a T68i.
It's conservative on both sides. I may be able to get a T68i less than £100, and might get more than £300 for my P800.
T68i + £200 is more than fair if someone is looking to upgrade.
Hell, to be honest, I will have a T68m with the new firmware, I prefer them because the pearl white looks kinda girly on the i's.
And I already have a laptop (Inspiron 500m) but it's too big to carry everywhere that I carry a PDA.

I guess this why laptops, PDAs, P800s and T68i phones are around - we all want something different!
Good luck AlanJC.

OK, getting my old T68 back from the guy I sold it to for a computer parts trade
So, that leave me with just selling the P800. Ebay is a rip off now with all the charges, anyone know a better place to sell it?
I am looking for £300 or nearest offer if that makes any difference? |
