I was tampering around with Bluetooth again today (I got bored, cause my vidcard's dead, so I'm using my Laptop for now, but it doesn't have a fancy 3D card ). And it seems like it's working a lot better on my Laptop than it is on my Desktop. I've actually got file transfer (both from phone to comp and the other way round) and DUN working.

However, I've noticed something. It seems like my computer is never allowed to use the services of my phone directly. I need to tell me phone to connect to my computer, and then be fast and open a service from my computer to my telephone. When I do that, it actually works. But it's kinda awkward. And I don't think this is meant to be.

Okay, I can understand I need to enable Bluetooth on my phone because it uses battery power. But I shouldn't be needing to connect from my phone to my computer, and then back again to get it to work. I just want to turn on Bluetooth on my phone, and then use it's services (like DUN and file transfer).

Is it normal for this to happen? Or is it a combination of hardware/software I'm using, and is their a way to solve this? Here are some details:

Phone: Sony Ericsson T68i
On computer: MSI Bluetooth USB Dongle
Driver version: MSI Bluetooth Software 1.3.0
Device details:

Device status: The selected device is working properly.
Manufacturer: Cambridge Silicon Radio
Firmware revision: Version 487

Device Address: 00:02:5B:00:A5:A5
HCI Version: Bluetooth HCI 1.1
HCI Revision: 01E7
LMP Version: Bluetooth LMP 1.1
LMP Sub Version: 01E7

That's about it I guess .

Do you mean that you have to pair the phone and the PC everytime again when you want to use the Bleutooth connection ?

That is the problem I have and I don't find any reference to this problem.

Using a T68 and Dell Inspiron 500m with internal, factory installed Bleutooth card.

No, pairing isn't really the problem. The pairing process works allright, although it can only be done one way. I think I have to let the phone wait for a pairing request for the computer, then tell the computer to pair with the device and then it works. But it doesn't work the other way round. I don't think Bluetooth is really mature right now. Hopefully, something will be done about that in the future.
